A man on a motorcycle is accused of robbing a Mesa, Arizona drive-thru, then riding the wrong way through traffic to escape from police.Mesa police report that on April 5, 43-year-old Kevin Dean Hendrickson approached a McDonald’s drive-thru window near Power Road and Southern Avenue. Witnesses allegedly recorded Hendrickson pointing a handgun at two employees, demanding money.  A Mesa police officer located Hendrickson near Higley Road and Main Street, where he reportedly was seen riding westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic. Hendrickson abandoned his motorcycle near 52nd Street and Greenway Road, where he was found by a nearby homeowner, hiding in his closet. Hendrickson fled the home, leaving behind his helmet and gun, and taking the resident’s hat and shirt. He was later located by another homeowner, hiding in his trash can. Police soon located and arrested Hendrickson.He has been charged with armed robbery. 979

Kelly Loeffler (R-Georgia), escalated on Tuesday when Dream players wore shirts supporting Loeffler's opponent in an upcoming special election.Since opening the 2020 season in Bradenton, Florida, the WNBA has taken several steps to honor the Black Lives Matter movement in response to hundreds of nationwide protests against police brutality and systemic racism. Games have taken place on courts emblazoned with the words "Black Lives Matter," and players have worn the names of those who have died at the hands of police on the backs of their jerseys.Loeffler has not been involved with day-to-day team operations since she was appointed to replace Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Georgia, upon his retirement. But earlier this year, Loeffler said she objected to the league's move to embrace Black Lives Matter, calling it a "divisive political movement." Several WNBA players denounced Loeffler's comments at the time.On Tuesday, members of both the Atlanta Dream and their opponents, the Phoenix Mercury, wore shirts reading "VOTE WARNOCK" during warmups. A father and mother in Las Vegas were arrested on Feb. 28 on charges including murder, child abuse/neglect, and animal cruelty. Police were called to the couple's apartment on Feb. 25 after getting reports about possible abuse or neglect. Medical workers told police dispatchers that they were transporting a 5-month-old child to the hospital and the baby appeared to be malnourished.The baby died after being taken to the hospital.Detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the case, and three days later arrested 29-year-old Anthony Oceja and 24-year-old Loreana Martinez. Oceja and Martinez also had two other children who were taken into protective custody and are being evaluated by medical personnel for potential health concerns. There were also three dogs in the residence that appeared to be severely malnourished. They were turned over to Clark County Animal Control. A Chandler mother is accused of punching and biting her preschool-aged daughter. Chandler police report that on July 31 they arrested 31-year-old Enricka Rena Johnson. Police say Johnson abused her 5-year-old daughter at their home near Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road. Investigators allege that Johnson became angry because the child would not brush her hair. She reportedly punched the girl in the eye and bit her on the arm. A medical exam noted several other injuries including a brain bleed and a broken lower leg with scarring. Johnson allegedly told police that she bit the child on the arm, hand, and shoulder. She also said, "I hit her hard, I hit her a lot."She reportedly told police that the girl broke her leg about two to four months ago, but instead of getting medical attention she taped the leg for support. The leg swelled causing the scarring. Police say they also found meth in Johnson's possession. She has been charged with child abuse.I 1005

A Land O' Lakes, Florida man who was just released from prison was arrested for attempted vehicle theft again before he even left the jail parking lot.Klaid Karpuzi, 41, was arrested when deputies say he tried to steal a truck with a teen in the backseat just three days earlier.As Karpuzi was walking through the jail parking lot following his release, he reportedly tried to get into a vehicle by walking around it, then pulling on the passenger door handle.Inside the vehicle was an off-duty deputy who happened to be at the jail to take a class.When Karpuzi pulled on the handle, Deputy Brunner stepped out of the vehicle, where she and another deputy detained him.Karpuzi told the deputies he saw a vehicle with the engine running and did not realize anyone was in it.He was arrested for attempted auto theft and returned to the jail. Karpuzi has already been released again.  914
