(AP) — Workers were cleaning up after high tides caused a 40-foot sailboat to capsize and also flooded the streets of Newport Beach late Friday, causing a traffic jam that kept vehicles from leaving the Balboa Peninsula for hours. The Orange County Register reported that eight bulldozers are dedicated to building back a sandy berm before high waters return Saturday night. NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Bieber is hoping the coronavirus pandemic is over by next summer.New dates have been announced for his previously scheduled 2020 tour, which will now take place in 2021. Tickets for his original 2020 tour will be honored on the new dates.The Justin Bieber World Tour was originally planned to begin in May but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. AEG Presents says the 45-date tour will kick off on June 2, 2021, in San Diego. Nineteen new dates have been added to the tour, and the original stops have been rerouted, according to AEG. Kehlani and Jaden Smith were originally also participating in the 2020 tour. NEW YORK (AP) — Lawyers for the Girl Scouts say that the century-old organization is now directly competing with the Boy Scouts for female recruits and that it's not a fair fight. The lawyers filed papers Thursday in federal court in Manhattan to repel an effort by the Boy Scouts to toss out a 2-year-old trademark infringement lawsuit. Lawyers for the Boy Scouts last month asked a judge to reject claims that the organization is infringing on trademarks when it recruits girls with words like “scouts" and “scouting.” The Girl Scouts say in their filing that the Boy Scouts' marketing of expanded services for girls is “highly damaging.” 648
New heart health research found that taking a low-dose daily aspirin to cut chances of a heart attack or stroke may have risks that outweigh the benefits.The latest studies revealed the effects of the blood-thinning, anti-inflammatory drug on patients, who did not yet develop heart disease or other heart-related issues but were at moderate risk.Research found aspirin does help patients with diabetes, who are at higher risk to develop or die from heart problems. However, the risk of serious bleeding far outweighed the benefit of taking the drug.The study found aspirin was not effective in preventing heart attacks or strokes for moderate risk patients, because they had other health issues, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking.Doctors also cautioned using fish oil supplements, instead of aspirin, would have similar disappointing results. Instead, health professionals suggest eating fish to improve your heart’s health.Fish oil may be more beneficial for people who have already suffered a heart attack. 1043
