A canceled chase in Akron, Ohio ended in a two-car crash with both drivers being arrested on warrants, according to police.Police said the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at an intersection.Police said they got behind a red Hyundai that was stolen and tried to pull the driver over when he took off. The driver reached speeds of around 80 mph when a supervisor canceled the chase. Police said the driver continued to accelerate and 30 seconds later they found the car crashed. The Hyundai hit a minivan and then a pole, a fire hydrant, another pole, before eventually coming to rest next door to an Akron fire station. The Hyundai was shredded in the crash leaving its trunk lid in a parking lot, part of its door wrapped around a traffic light pole and a wheel a hundred feet away.The driver of the stolen Hyundai had warrants and will be taken to jail after he is released from the hospital with what police say are minor injuries.The driver of the minivan was also a wanted felon and he will also be arrested after he is released from the hospital with what police say were minor injuries.  1131

A group of California lawmakers is raising new questions about what the state is getting in return for the billions of dollars it has spent combating its homeless crisis.The seven lawmakers, all Republicans, are calling for an audit that will need bipartisan support to get going. In the last two years, California has invested .7 billion on homelessness, and Gov. Gavin Newsom is budgeting an additional .4 billion in next year's budget. Meanwhile, the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development says California's homeless population increased by 16 percent last year, or 21,306 people. "I don't know where that money is going, and it's being approved by the legislature," said State Sen. Brian Jones, Republican of San Diego County's 38th district, who is calling for the audit. "So if I don't know where it's going, how can the taxpayers know where it's going?"Newsom's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Last week, Newsom unveiled a proposal for .4 billion to overhaul medi-cal and create a new fund that would serve in part to help people on the brink of homelessness make rent. San Diego homeless advocate Michael McConnell, who is not a member of a political party, said he has been asking many of the questions those seeking the audit are raising. "We know the big buckets that the money just kind of disappears into, but what we don't do is we don't follow it all the way through to see how many folks were actually getting out of homelessness," he said. The state's Joint Legislative Audit Committee, comprised mostly of Democrats, will consider the audit request at its Feb. 19 meeting. Measuring roughly 2 inches long, the bushy lock of hair was removed during Lincoln’s postmortem examination after he was fatally shot at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., by John Wilkes Booth. A hospice patient in Kentucky arrived at his son's season opener football game in style. His hospice nurse arranged for a plane to fly them to Belfry High School after realizing it would have been too dangerous in his condition to drive.For Scott Sullivan, being able to watch his son, Cade, play one more time under the Friday night lights was a once in a lifetime opportunity."I got out of a couple of hospitals and realized I had a really rapid form of cancer that left me really not many places to turn," Scott said.Since he got home, Jerree Humphrey, a nurse at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, has been taking care of Scott. Over the past few weeks, the pair have bonded over their kids. "He was asking me if I felt like he could go to Belfry. I was like, 'I don't know,' I mean seven or eight hours in the car, between here and there, and then back," Humphrey said.Driving being out of the question, Humphrey knew she had to do something. "One of our hospice mottos is you might not be able to change the outcome, but you can affect the journey," Humphrey said.So, Humphrey found someone to fly them down to Belfry High School to watch Cade play in Pulaski County High School's season opener."Him being there, it might be the last game he will ever watch me play in, and it meant a lot to me. I played my heart out; I played as hard as I possibly could," Cade said.The whole game, Scott was in the stands cheering on his son. Cade ran over and hugged him."My son and I, we made an agreement. If it's going to happen, we are going to make it. A Hartford, Connecticut, police officer was fired after authorities investigated a video of him telling a group of young men he might shoot them if they fight or run.Officer Stephen Barone was answering a suspected trespassing call August 9 when he was recorded questioning a group of young men in the street."If anybody wants to fight or run, I'm a little trigger happy, guys.
