SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A sea lion pup in Encinitas was saved Tuesday from a diver's mask that was tightly wrapped around its neck.The year-old sea lion pup was found at Swami's Beach with a diver's mask wrapped around its neck. Crews took the pup to SeaWorld’s Animal Health and Rescue Center, where officials treated the sea lion's wound.Officials say other than the wound and undernourishment, the sea lion was in good health. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Alcohol giant Constellation Brands is bidding bon voyage to San Diego-born Ballast Point.The company announced Tuesday it will be selling Ballast Point Brewing Company to Chicago-based Kings & Convicts Brewing Company for an undisclosed amount. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A third family member has died following a house fire in Logan Heights early Sunday morning. According to a family member and a GoFundMe page set up for the family, the 21-year-old, identified only as Iris, died Tuesday. On Monday, the family’s oldest son told 10News his mother and father, who he identified as Nicolasa Mayo and Jose Romero, were killed in the fire. The 26-year-old said he awoke Sunday morning to find his bed on fire. The man told 10News he tried yelling at his family to get out of the home."My dogs were jumping on me, trying to wake me up. I woke up. When I woke up, my bed was on fire. I jumped out of bed and started screaming the house is on fire," said Wilber Romero.The fire started around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3100 block of Clay Street."The minute I stepped out of my restroom, my house on the inside felt warm, like really warm. The curtain was open and I looked across the neighbors house was just bursting in flames," said Maria Orona, who lives nearby.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, firefighters had to go inside the home to pull many of the victims out.One witness who was nearby when the fire started told 10News he could see one of the victims reaching through bars in the windows, unable to escape.At this time, it’s unclear what sparked the fire, but the metro arson strike team was called to the home to investigate. 1406

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego State University study abroad student and a University of San Diego graduate student have both tested positive for the coronavirus, the universities announced Friday.The SDSU student was studying abroad in Italy and recently returned home to the United States. The student is self-isolating at his home outside of San Diego County, the university said in a release.They added that the student visited two off campus offices for a brief period of time, and did not attend any classes."Due to the student's limited contact with the campus, we consider that the risk to the greater SDSU campus community is low," said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer.A graduate student at the University of San Diego also tested positive for the virus, the university said Friday in a tweet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Alpine residents are bracing for a Public Safety Power Shutoff, as SDG&E monitors the weather conditions.The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning Thursday, "winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph. Local gusts to 75 mph possible near the mountain ridge tops." The warning lasts through Friday afternoon.Neighbors in Alpine are always ready if a fire sparks, “we keep a go bag of important documents and stuff and uh three dogs at this point and we’d be able to take them with us, and we had to do that in the past too." Neighbor Steve Allison said. He's lived in Alpine for 20 years."Well we’ve chosen to evacuate four times, the last time we had no choice, we had to go. The fire burned within 40 feet of the house," he said he was thankful firefighters saved his home last year during the West Fire.Since the West Fire swept through, in July of 2018, he's made some changes to his home, "we have defensible space around our house, we have new vents in our attic they’re supposed to keep the embers out of the attic."SDG&E reports areas of Alpine, Descanso and Pine Valley are in the dark Thursday and won't get power back until Saturday evening at 6 p.m, due to the Public Safety Power Shutoff.
