For the fifth straight year, Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench celebrated Thanksgiving together — though the yearly tradition this year was marked by grief.Hinton, 21, and Dench, 63, first met in 2016, when Dench mistakenly texted Hinton while trying to reach her grandson about plans for Thanksgiving. Despite the mistake, Hinton jokingly invited himself over."Of course you can," Dench replied. "That's what grandmas do ... feed everyone!"Hinton stayed true to his promised and actually showed up with his girlfriend, and Dench welcomed the two with open arms. Football coach Derrick Clark was a convicted drug dealer when he was hired two seasons ago for New Haven Endeavour Middle School in New Haven, Michigan. Now he’s in jail facing serious sex charges.  School Superintendent Todd Robinson talked with Jim Kiertzner, investigator for Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit and said he knew Clark had some criminal past, saying “Not to the extent that you’re sharing with me now.”  Robinson would not say what his understanding of it was. “I don’t want to make any more comment about it at this time.” Robinson also would not answer if he would still hire him if he knew what he knows today.State records show Clark was convicted of drug possession and running a drug house and was on probation from 2009 to 2014. Clark now faces charges of third degree criminal sexual conduct, pandering and racketeering in Macomb County.  Police said Clark reportedly sold his girlfriend for sex with online ads dozens of times over several months and threatened her and kids to go to Child Protective Services.At least one “John,” a man who paid for sex, is cooperating with police.John Wallace, who lives next door to the school says, “That sounds to me like another Nassar case.”Other parents said they are upset.Clark was hired through a contracting firm called EDUStaff in Grand Rapids.  The company president, Clark Galloway, sent us a statement that says criminal background checks and approval are up to school districts and Clark is not the only employee they’ve supplied: 1572

Now, Baby Yoda is sharing the force with firefighters around the western U.S. and bringing smiles to thousands of fans.Carver told his grandmother he wanted to do something to help those on the front lines of the deadly wildfires. She heard of a donation drive helping firefighters and took Carver shopping to buy items to donate, according to CNN.Carver focused in on a Baby Yoda doll, so he sent it off in the care package with a note telling the firefighters, “here is a friend for you, in case you get lonely,” according to posts in a Facebook group dedicated to the doll’s adventures. 778

Forget the shirt and shoes; no service for people on horseback at Starbucks in Anthem, Arizona. A Valley girl is frustrated after trying to ride her horse through the drive-thru when the barista said nay. Aspen Cline had seen internet videos of others riding their horses through the Starbucks drive-thru and decided that's what she wanted to do for her birthday. Instead, she and her horse, Scout, were shut down by the barista who apparently wasn't into horsing around. "We weren't given a reason, just, "we can't take your order," said Aspen. "My friend and I were going to get frappuccinos for us and a cup of whipped cream for the horses." A Starbucks spokesperson told us, officially, their drive-through is for cars only. He said that policy is for animal, rider and employee safety. But, he also added that the horses caught the barista off guard and with a little-advanced notice next time they'll find a way to serve all creatures."We support Starbucks because they're very accepting," said Tandy Cline, Aspen's mom. "So we were kind of disappointed we got thrown to the side from such a great company."  Tandy said they would definitely be reaching back out to Starbucks to see if they can arrange a better experience for Aspen. 1297
