Arlington National Cemetery is a shrine that honors our military.But on this Memorial Day, it’s facing a dilemma. It's running out of room, and is now considering restricting who can be buried there.“Arlington National Cemetery is just so special. Around here we say every day is Memorial Day,” said Karen Durham-Aguilera, the executive director of Army National Military Cemeteries.  “Without a change, every veteran who served in a Gulf War conflict, that's Iraq, Afghanistan and all the other conflicts we've been in since then, will not have the honor of coming here, even if they're medal of honor recipients."The cemetery holds more than 7,000 burials a year, or about 30 a day.With aging veterans and on-going conflicts, the cemetery is running out room and, if nothing changes, they'll run out of space in the next twenty years or so. Unable to expand much more, the cemetery is now looking at putting new restrictions on who can be buried there.On its website, the cemetery is now taking a survey asking the public for input on which veterans should get priority. For example: those killed in action, retired veterans, or those who received high honors, like a Purple Heart or Medal of Valor.“Anybody can take it. It's very narrowly focused, saying what do people want us to do." Said Durham-Aguilera.With your help, Arlington National Cemetery wants to make sure it's ready and able to honor the next generation.  “It's not just for that current generation of gulf war and beyond veterans, but that five-year-old who one day is going to raise his or her hand and say I want to serve this nation. Ammon Bundy was among four people arrested by Idaho State Police on Tuesday at the Idaho state capitol. Bundy was taken into custody by Idaho State Police after he refused to stand from his chair in the Lincoln Auditorium at the Idaho Capitol.Bundy was handcuffed and wheeled out in the chair of the capitol by ISP troopers, according to a news release from Idaho State Police. He was arrested for trespassing and charged with resisting and obstructing officers, police said.Also arrested were 42-year-old Aaron Von Schmidt from Coeur d'Alene and Jill Watts, 38 from Nampa. Both Von Schmidt and Watts were charged with trespassing. The identity of the fourth person arrested is currently unknown.Troopers were clearing the hearing room on the order from Speaker of the House of Representatives Scott Bedke, police said. At that time, there were about 18 people in the auditorium and all but four voluntarily left the room.All four were were arrested by Idaho State troopers and are being booked into Ada County Jail on charges of misdemeanor trespassing, according to ISP.Bundy being taken into custody comes on the second day of the special session, where one person was cited earlier in the day for trespassing.This article was written by KIVI Staff. 1260

Kmart announced on Tuesday an exchanged program for those with defunct Toys 'R' Us gift cards. Toys 'R' Us is in the midst of closing all of its stores, and liquidating products. Earlier in May, the retailer stopped accepting gift cards. Kmart said it will allow those with gift cards to Toys 'R' Us to exchange cards for  of FREECASH in points through the in-store exchange. The offer runs through the end of July. In order to take advantage of the offer, Kmart customers will need to join the Shop Your Way program. The offer is good even on expired gift cards. "Kmart has long been a family shopping destination for expecting and current parents," said Leena Munjal, chief digital officer for Sears Holdings Corporation. An online Good Samaritan challenge that's gone viral prompted two Michigan brothers to offer free lawn mowing to people who can't easily do it themselves.Now, the nationwide challenge's organizer is headed to metro Detroit to recognize their efforts.16-year-old Sam and 13-year-old Hunter have mowed 51 lawns in Westland for free since April. It's a task most people hate, especially in the summer heat; but Sam loves it. So when his parents told him about the "50 Yard Challenge," it was a no-brainer.“We get the feeling that we’re helping people who really can’t help themselves," he said.Rodney Smith, Jr. created the challenge. He's the founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service in Alabama."Back in 2015, I came across an elderly man outside mowing his lawn. It looked like he was struggling, so I pulled over and helped him out. That night I decided I’ve to start mowing free lawns for the elderly, disabled, single parents, and veterans in Huntsville, Alabama," Smith told WXYZ. Two brothers from Westland mowed 51 lawns since April FOR FREE. They’re offering help to the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans, or anyone who may need some help. So it was really cool to see the amount of community that came out. The boys have actually made what we think are going to be long-lasting relationships with some of these that don’t have contact with the outside world," their mom Keri told WXYZ.Fifty other kids from around the country have also completed the challenge, and about 1,000 are in the process of doing it now.“It’s just great. Especially when things kind of hit, a lot of the activities they weren’t able to do anymore. We couldn’t play baseball, we couldn’t go out to school, we couldn’t have activities to actually do," said their dad, Kyle.They may be helping others, but the boys said they're getting something really important out of the work too.“It’s heartwarming. We just get to meet nice people that just... that really want to have connections with other people that just can’t really go anywhere," said 13-year-old Hunter.“They appreciate what we do," Sam told WXYZ.
