RANCHO SANTA FE (CNS) - In the wake of COVID-19 shutdowns, the Helen Woodward Animal Center will launch online educational programming for children stuck at home. The center's Humane Education department will stream baby animals from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a focus on a new animal every hour.Helen Woodward Animal Center has offered humane education programs dedicated to appreciating animals since its founding. The center also runs a pet encounter therapy program."The enormous growth of adoptions is based on the undeniable way pets create a happier, more loving home," center spokeswoman Jessica Gercke said. "With this in mind, Helen Woodward Animal Center is dedicating this time to bringing the gifts of animals into the homes of friends, supporters, and animal-lovers struggling with social distancing."In order to take precautions against the COVID-19 pandemic, all on- site humane education programs at the center are closed until April 6.A live stream of the animals, including puppies, rabbits, baby goats and parrots, can be viewed at animalcenter.org/programs-services/education/critter-cam. 1134

Quora, the popular website where users can crowdsource answers to all kinds of topics, announced hackers gained personal information from up to 100 million of its users.Users account information such as email addresses and passwords may have been compromised. This comes on the heels of a massive data breach of Marriott’s systems, where hackers gained access to the data of 500 million users. It all begs the question: is there something we can do?The answer is yes, says security expert Fred Kneip with CyberGRX. He admits, however, that protecting your information can be frustrating.“Everyone hates changing their passwords,” Kneip says. “No one can keep track of them.”We all have to do it, he says. Kneip also says never use the same password for all your accounts.“If you use the same password over and over, a hacker if they compromise one of those companies—let’s say Twitter or Facebook most recently--but you use that to log in to your office or a bank, what they do is they take that password, that login and password set, and they apply it universally to see where else could that work,” Kneip explains.Suddenly, all your accounts risk being compromised. Kneip says a totally different password for each login is best, but even changing one character at the end will protect you from 90 percent of hackers. So, if you’re bad at keeping track of all your passwords, what can help? Kneip suggests encrypted password-keeping apps like Last Pass and One Password."Very straightforward; they’re free,” he says. “Then, you just have to have one master password that you open back up to.”The good news is, Kneip he believes we won’t need passwords for anything. Instead, our own biometric data will log us in to everything. 1739

President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa in late June that drew thousands of people, along with large protests that accompanied it, “likely contributed” to a dramatic surge in coronavirus cases, health officials said Wednesday.Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed cases on Monday, a new record one-day high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday.County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.A reporter who attended Trump’s rally is among those who have tested positive for COVID-19, along with six of Trump’s campaign staffers and two members of the Secret Service.Statewide, Oklahoma health officials on Wednesday reported 673 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus, the state’s second-highest daily total since the start of the pandemic. 825

Residents in northern Japan were woken abruptly Friday by blaring air raid sirens signaling a North Korean intermediate-range ballistic missile was about to fly over their heads. It was the second time in just over two weeks the rogue state had fired a projectile over Japanese territory, a provocation which was immediately condemned by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.The missile passed over the northern island of Hokkaido where anxious residents told local media they didn't understand why North Korea was acting so antagonistically. 538
