BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Expo 2010 Shanghai is proving to be a boon for successful Chinese entrepreneurs eager to tap into the global market.The 184-day event, which is predicted to attract an estimated 4 million foreign visitors along with global media coverage, is considered to be a golden opportunity for Chinese companies to raise their brands to an international level and explore business opportunities.According to survey released last year by the information office of Shanghai Municipal Government, more than a quarter of the respondents were hoping to visit Shanghai during the Expo to seek future business.The online survey polled 503 foreigners in 44 countries and regions across the world, 30 percent of whom were senior corporate executives.Of the Expo's 58 partners and official sponsors, 47 are Chinese companies, 25 are from Shanghai, 15 are from Beijing and seven from other parts of the country. TORONTO, Canada, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao visited an aircraft manufacturing facility on Saturday morning, in a gesture to show that China attaches importance to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Canada.Bombardier, a Canada-based global manufacturer of planes and trains, has cooperation projects with China in the areas of civil aviation and rail transportation.It has been working with the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) of China to jointly develop and manufacture the innovative C series of airplanes.Hu toured the factory to have a close look at the components of the Q400 aircraft, which was partly manufactured in Shenyang. BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) - China's banking regulator on late Thursday said the hypothetical situations in the risk tests of banks, such as a possible slump in property prices, does neither indicate the regulator's judgment on the property market nor possible changes in government property policies.The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) reaffirmed in an online statement that it allows banks in regions with soaring property prices to suspend loans for third homes according to their assessment on credit risks.The CBRC also said the down payment and the lending rate for third homes mortgage loans should be raised, but the specific amount should be determined by banks.The declaration was made in response to domestic reports that the CBRC had ordered banks in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou to stop issuing loans to third home buyers.According to Bloomberg's Thursday report, the banking regulator had told lenders to include worst-case scenarios of prices dropping 50 to 60 per cent in cities where they have risen excessively, which signaled that the government might be growing more concerned about the health of the real estate market.

NANNING, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and eleven others injured in an explosion at an illegal private firecracker factory in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police said Sunday.The blast hit the factory in a village in Lingshan County, Qinzhou City at about 6 p.m. Sunday, the police said. The cause of the explosion is being investigated.Two people were killed on the spot while four injured died in the hospital after treatments failed.Police said they have arrested a suspect surnamed Lao.Authorities have ordered a city-wide crackdown on unlicensed firecracker factories following the incident.
