SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Homeowners in Chula Vista's Eastlake III Community Association are fighting back against proposed parking updates for the HOA. If passed neighbors would be required to park their cars in the garage before parking in their driveway or on the street.The Board of Directors distributed proposed updates to the Community Association Handbook for a homeowner review and comment; and will vote on Tuesday, August 20.Among the proposed changes:Street parking is permitted only after all garage spaces, and driveway spaces, are utilized to its maximum designed capacityThe Association's management company is permitted to perform a garage inspection of a residence to ensure compliance with the Association's governing documentsHomeowner Jose Esquer believes an inspection would be an invasion of people's property."They seem to want the right to inspect your garage, and that's private property. What I have in my garage shouldn't be anybody's business, but whoever is inside my house. I have a problem with them trying to police what we do once inside our house," said Esquer. Becky Niemiec already parks her car in the garage but still believes the changes would be an overstep. "We don't have attics, we don't have basements, we have no storage, people should be able to use their garage however they want to," said Niemiec.Niemiec says the issue has drawn a lot of debate on Nextdoor. She says while some argue the changes could help beautify the neighborhood, she believes that group is in the minority. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Firefighters Wednesday battled a trash fire that burned in the same area scorched by the Caliente Fire. The blaze sparked near the 905 and Caliente Avenue, according to crews. It's unclear how the fire may have started, but video from Sky10 showed trash atop a hill on fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Emergency crews rescued a driver that was trapped in an SUV that rolled over on a Clairemont street early Tuesday morning.At around 2:30 a.m., San Diego firefighters and police were called to the 4000 block of Genesee Avenue in response to a crash involving a red SUV.A witness told ABC 10News the vehicle was speeding down the street when it struck a median and then rolled over several times, also hitting some parked vehicles.The witness said two passengers were able to get out of the wreckage, but the driver was pinned in the SUV.Responding crews took about 30 minutes to get the driver out with the Jaws of Life. The driver and one passenger were taken to the hospital, but the other passenger left the scene and is being sought by police. 774

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Five dogs died during a fire at a former kennel in Lakeside early Sunday morning. The fire broke out on the 8700 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard around 3 a.m., according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District. The house used to be a functioning kennel, but the woman who lives in the home was either pet sitting or storing the animal for residents at the time of the fire, the district says. Crews say the fire started downstairs in the two-story home. The department says the age of the home made it difficult to fight the blaze. “Old structures are lath and plaster, they’re difficult to fight fires because the fires are get deep in the walls. So it takes a long time to put those out. There is a lot of stuff inside of the home as well. So moving hoselines inside of the house is very difficult as well,” according to Bernard Molloy with Lakeside Fire. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - From searching for jobs online to interviewing virtually, even working online, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way some people get and do their job."It definitely adds another element to do interviews online," said Alex McNair.McNair applied for her new job just as the pandemic hit.For everyone's safety, she and her prospective employer moved the interview from a traditional setting to a virtual one."Lytx was very forthcoming about health and safety and wanting to make sure everyone is taken care of," McNair said. "At that point, we transitioned online, and I think at that point it worked out really well for everyone."McNair got the job.She's a manager in customer support operations at Lytx, a fleet management solutions company. McNair now manages a team of people virtually."For me, of course, I want to see the office.
