(KGTV) - Nearly two and a half miles of the current border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in Calexico are being replaced with 30-foot high, bollard-style walls.The section of the replacement, which broke ground last week, extends from the Calexico Port of Entry westward just past Gran Plaza Outlets, according to Customs and Border Protection officials. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Three people were treated for gunshot wounds and one person was taken into custody in Carlsbad following a shooting Saturday morning.Carlsbad Police responded to calls of shots fired at the Pacific View Apartment Homes complex in the 5100 block of Whitman Way just before 6 a.m.Officers arrived to find a man and woman with gunshot wounds in a courtyard area of the complex. Both were treated by Carlsbad Fire crews and taken to a nearby hospital.MAP: Crime happening in your neighborhoodPolice later located another man with a gunshot wound in the apartment complex. He too was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.Carlsbad detectives were on the scene Saturday investigating the shooting. They believe the three knew each other and the shooting was not a random act.Police said one person is in custody but did not say whether that person was one of the three who were shot. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- Cameron Wetzler's downtown skate shop almost made the Guinness Book of World Records for being the smallest skate shop on Earth. Instead, the building could be torn down.In July, Wetzler subleased the 100-square-foot building in a downtown Carlsbad parking lot and opened Elm Street Board Shop. He had a local artist spruce up the outside with images of Carlsbad at sunset and a Freddie Krueger theme."All the kids have been skating here for two generations and anybody who lives down here always thought this should be a skate shop," he said. Wetzler's shop, and a vape shop next door, closed in October to make way for redevelopment. A Carlsbad family is proposing to turn the site into a glassblowing operation that would offer classes, demonstrations and shopping."The last thing we want to do is another coffee shop or condos," said Mary Devlin, who would own what's being called Barrio Glassworks. "We really wanted it to be part of the look of Carlsbad and to fit with sort of the real local community."Devlin said glassblowing is becoming rare these days, and was inspired after a trip to Murano Island in Venice with her son. (KGTV) - A former DACA recipient was arrested Monday on his second attempt to re-enter the U.S. from Mexico.El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents received information from Remote Video Surveillance Systems operators that a man had crossed the border fence approximately 3 miles east of Calexico.RVSS monitors showed the man running away from agents as they tried to arrest him, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.After a brief chase, agents caught 23-year-old Mexican citizen Juan Manual Montes-Bojorquez.CBP said Montes had previously been deported in February.“Our agents witnessed and arrested Mr. Bojorquez making an illegal entry into the United States for the second time this year,” said Assistant Chief Patrol Agent David S. Kim. “Border Patrol Agents will always stop, detain, and arrest anyone making an illegal entry into the country irrespective of their immigration or citizenship status.” Montes was booked into the Imperial County Jail on pending charges of re-entry after removal.  1047
