GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (AP) — Police in Texas say the actor Eddie Hassell has died in a shooting.The 30-year-old was known for his roles in the NBC show “Surface” and the 2010 film “The Kids Are All Right.”Police say the shooting happened early Sunday in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie.Officers responded to the shooting in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road at about 1:50 a.m. and located Hassell suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. First aid was rendered as the Waco resident was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.Police say they don't yet have a motive, but that a car had been taken from the scene of the shooting. HAWAII (KGTV) -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck Hawaii Thursday afternoon.According to the USGS, the quake happened about 1:30 p.m., 11 miles south of Fern Acres on the Big Island.The earthquake was just one of hundreds of earthquakes that have swarmed the island, prompting concerns that Kilauea Volcano could erupt.The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory indicated that a volcanic eruption was possible but not imminent. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes.The series of earthquakes came after a collapse of a crater floor of Pu?u ?ō?ō, which is a volcanic cone in the eastern rift zone of the Kīlauea Volcano.Since that collapse, about 250 earthquakes were reported in the area into Tuesday evening, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory status report.Check out the map below to see the area near where the earthquake hit: 931

GOLETA, Calif. (KGTV) - A rare sea creature that’s not supposed to live in the Northern Hemisphere surprised scientists by washing ashore in Goleta last week. The Mola tecta, more commonly known as the hoodwinker sunfish, is a rare species first identified in 2017, according to experts at University of California, Santa Barbara. UCSB reported the fish at Sands Beach in the university's Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve, the Associated Press reported. An intern alerted a reserve staffer who initially thought it was a type of local sunfish. “This is certainly the most remarkable organism I have seen wash up on the beach in my four years at the reserve,” said Jessica Nielsen, a conservation specialist at Coal Oil Point on the UCSB website. “It really was exciting to collect the photos and samples knowing that it could potentially be such an extraordinary sighting.” Scientists have not yet determine how the fish died. 932
