The CBS board of directors is in the process of picking outside counsel to conduct an investigation after company CEO Les Moonves was accused of sexual misconduct.In a statement, CBS said that "no other action" was taken on the matter at Monday's board meeting.The meeting was scheduled before a bombshell report in The New Yorker Friday detailed allegations against the CEO. Six women told the magazine that Moonves sexually harassed them.In a statement to The New Yorker that was also obtained by CNNMoney on Friday, Moonves said he has "promoted a culture of respect and opportunity for all employees" throughout his tenure at CBS."I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances," Moonves said. "Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely. But I always understood and respected — and abided by the principle — that 'no' means 'no,' and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone's career."The idea that Moonves should step aside during the probe was raised by at least some board members this weekend, according to one source who spoke to CNNMoney on Sunday.The board also said on Monday that it would postpone its annual meeting of stockholders, which was scheduled to be held August 10. The driver of a rental truck drove down a busy bicycle path in New York near the World Trade Center, killing eight people and injuring about a dozen others in what officials said was an "act of terror."After crashing the truck into a school bus, the suspect exited the vehicle while displaying imitation firearms and was shot in the abdomen by a police officer, according to the NYPD.The suspect, a 29-year-old man, is in police custody and was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said. 503

The doors to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke's office are getting a nearly 9,000 upgrade.The Interior Department confirmed the project Thursday, saying it is both necessary to replace old doors that are in "disrepair" and attributing the high cost to the historical nature of the building.News of the 8,670 contract comes as several agencies are facing scrutiny over excessive spending. Last month, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson withdrew an order for pricey dining room furniture, including a ,000 table. Zinke is also under fire for questionable travel habits.Zinke was unaware of the expense for the doors, Interior spokeswoman Heather Swift said, saying the project was driven by "career facilities and security officials" as part of a decade-long modernization of the 1930s building."The secretary was not aware of this contract but agrees that this is a lot of money for demo, install, materials, and labor," Swift said in a statement. "Between regulations that require historic preservation and outdated government procurement rules, the costs for everything from pencils to printing to doors is astronomical. This is a perfect example of why the secretary believes we need to reform procurement processes."The new doors will be made of fiberglass. The previous sets of doors have been damaged for years, according to an Interior official, to the point where wind and water come into the office during inclement weather, which in turn damaged the historic hardwood floors. The Girl Scouts of the USA have appointed their first-ever Black CEO.On Monday, Judith Batty took over as Interim CEO after Sylvia Acevedo, who was with the Girl Scouts for four years, stepped down on Aug. 10. Acevedo's last day with the organization was Saturday."When I was young, the Girl Scouts instilled in me the courage, confidence, and character that have guided me through my life and career. It is an incredible honor to bring those lessons back full circle to help the Girl Scouts navigate this transition," said Judith Batty, interim CEO of GSUSA in the press release. "As families across the country contend with so much uncertainty and upheaval, I am committed to ensuring that the Girl Scouts continues to offer shelter in the storm - a place where all our girls feel welcome can find community, solidarity, leadership opportunities and fun, despite the challenging moment we are all collectively living through."Batty began in the organization as a Brownie with the Nassau County Council in New York. She continued scouting over the years, later serving two terms on the National Board.
