SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Officials with the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Air Show announced this year's air and ground military event has been canceled citing the coronavirus pandemic.The 66-year-old air acrobatics demonstration is one of the nation's largest military air shows drawing several hundred thousand spectators over the three-day weekend event.MCAS Miramar tweeted, "Due to the continuing spread and health concerns of #COVID19, @MCASMiramarCA must formally announce the cancellation of the 2020 Miramar Air Show. It is a disappointment to us as well as many across the world, but the safety of our Marines and fellow San Diegans must come first."This is the first time the event has been canceled since 2013 when the U.S. Department of Defense slashed budgets due to a government shutdown.This year's event was scheduled for September 25-27. During that time, more than ,000 worth of his jewelry went missing. "I would like someone to return the stuff. I don't need the money. I'm good. But it would be nice to have the items that were on my husband when he went into the hospital," said Trish.Among the items missing: an ,000 Rolex, gold necklace, gold bracelet, and his UC San Diego class ring. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person has been arrested Friday in connection with two threatening notes targeting La Jolla High School found off-campus.It's not clear whether the person was a student of the school.In a letter to parents Thursday, La Jolla High Principal Charles Podhorsky alerted the community of the notes that made mention to Oct. 31 and Dec. 10.RELATED: Point Loma Nazarene University classes canceled due to FBI investigation into possible threatPodhorsky alerted parents to the arrest Friday, and noted, "In an abundance of caution, we still plan to have additional officers on campus on these dates."It wasn't confirmed where the notes were found in the community, but students told 10News one of the notes were found at a nearby 7-Eleven location.Podhorsky also reminded parents to talk with their children regarding the notes and “If you see something, say something.”Any suspicious activity can be reported to either the Students Speak Out/Crime Stoppers hotline at 619-275-8240 or to San Diego Police at 619-531-2000. 1094

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 140 women, children and their family members will live inside Golden Hall for at least the next three months.The theater's second floor concourse will serve as a temporary bridge shelter while the city installs a new shelter tent at the corner of 17th and Imperial. Father Joe's Villages will manage the shelter, which is to serve as a transition for homeless families to find permanent housing and get on their feet. A recent city report found about 1,500 people were sleeping on San Diego's streets. The families moving into Golden Hall had been living in a bridge tent shelter at 14th and Commercial. That shelter is being removed to make way for a Father Joe's 14-story affordable housing tower. Golden Hall will have on-site residential staff and security 24 hours a day. Deacon Jim Vargas, president of Father Joe's Villages, said Golden Hall's location will present challenges when it comes to delivering key services out of Father Joe's main campus across downtown. He said these next few months will be a good test to see if something longer term could work. "I personally would love, in addition to the tent, to have some brick and mortar," said Vargas. "And if this facility works out well we'd be happy to continue as a service provider."The city is installing the new tent at 17th and Commercial over the next few months.
