President Donald Trump paid no federal income taxes in 10 of the past 15 years, according to a report in The New York Times. The Sunday report said he paid 0 in taxes to the federal government the year he was elected, 2016, and 0 again his first year in office.Trump has fiercely guarded his tax filings, becoming the only president in modern times not to make them public. The details of the tax filings complicate Trump’s description of himself as a shrewd and patriotic businessman, revealing instead a series of financial losses and income from abroad that could conflict with his responsibilities as president. Trump's financial disclosures indicated he earned at least 4.9 million in 2018, but the tax filings reported a .4 million loss. The disclosure comes at a pivotal moment weeks before a divisive election, with early voting underway. During a briefing Sunday evening, Trump was asked about the story and his taxes. He replied, “Fake news. It’s totally fake news.”A lawyer for the Trump Organization called the report “inaccurate.” He said in a statement to the news organization that the president “has paid tens of millions of dollars in personal taxes to the federal government, including paying millions in personal taxes since announcing his candidacy in 2015.” 1297

President Donald Trump has issued pardons to a number of his supporters, most notably former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos and Representatives Chris Collins and Duncan Hunter.Papadopoulos was among the first to be criminally charged in Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. He was serving a 26-month sentence.Hunter was set to go to prison next month after he pleaded guilty to misusing campaign funds. Hunter was to serve an 11-month sentence.Alex van der Zwaan, who was sentenced for 30 days for lying to federal authorities, was among those pardoned. He was the first person convicted from Mueller's investigation. Also among the pardons were Nicholas Slatten, Paul Slough, Evan Liberty, and Dustin Heard. President Donald Trump railed Tuesday against billionaire conservative brothers Charles and David Koch, accusing them of being against key components of his populist agenda and suggesting they're irrelevant in today's Republican Party.Trump's public attack, following a weekend in which he was criticized at a Koch network summer meeting, comes amid speculation that the Koch brothers are reconsidering their typically full-throated support for Republican candidates during the midterm elections."The globalist Koch Brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade. I never sought their support because I don't need their money or bad ideas," Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. "They love my Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judicial picks & more."In a separate tweet, Trump argued that he "made them richer" and that the Koch network "is highly overrated." 923
