SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Dangerously hot temperatures continue to scorch San Diego County's inland areas and deserts. Many of those areas hit peak temperatures well into the triple digits. Many inland residents chose to spend the day on the coast to escape the blistering heat.They say home is where the heart is. But for Peggy Dudenhoeffer, home is where the heat is. The Fallbrook resident drove 50 miles south Saturday, to enjoy the day in Bankers Hill, where it was about 15 degrees cooler."We feel like we're on vacation!" she said. "I like it better out here. We're lucky to be in San Diego to be able to sit outdoors in the summertime."She and her friend were at Barrio Star restaurant, which moved its operations all outdoors because of COVID-19 restrictions. But the restaurant was not going to let the heatwave turn customers away. They installed misters onto their rooftop overflow area."Right now, with this weather, it couldn't be better," Barrio Star General Manager, Michael Simpson, said. "Some nice mist, some nice picnic tables, and some nice margaritas!"Some preferred being closer to natural water. ABC 10News met professional skater, Lance Lynn, at Mission Beach."Inland, it's crazy hot," Lynn said. "Yesterday, I had to go to Ocean Beach just to escape the heat."Lynn said there was no way he could practice his skills back near his inland area home. With the ocean breeze, he said he can glide around without melting in the sun."When you get out towards the coast, then you can get to enjoy the beach," Lynn said. "This is what it's meant for!"The National Weather Service forecasts the heat advisory in the County's inland areas to remain in effect until 9 pm Saturday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Awaken Church continues to hold indoors services, despite orders from San Diego County to close all indoor religious services due to COVID-19 restrictions.According to the San Diego County website, three of the Awaken Church locations have received cease and desist orders. The location at 7620 Balboa Ave. received a cease and desist order July 17, 2020; the Carlsbad location received one Nov. 16, 2020; and the Chula Vista location received one Nov. 19, 2020.RELATED: Churches pushing back against purple tier restrictionsIn addition, San Diego County put out a notice that anyone who went to the location at 7620 Balboa Ave. between Nov. 15 and Nov. 22 needs to quarantine for two weeks because of a community outbreak. The county said a community outbreak had occurred there, which is when there are three or more reported cases from different homes in the span of two weeks.An attendee at the San Marcus location said he feels comfortable attending in person and indoors.“I think it’s really about having individual choice and trusting people to have the intelligence to do the right thing, and this church has a wonderful uplifting message that I think is so positive and hopeful for people in a time where we find ourselves somewhat down,” said Brian.Brian said that the San Marcos facility is spacious so people are able to spread out, adding that the right to worship freely is in the constitution.RELATED: County asks Kearny Mesa church attendees to quarantine after COVID-19 outbreak“Try to preserve as much of our freedoms and liberties as we can. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Concerns and questions remain about why the County of San Diego won't release the locations of restaurants or grocery stores where employees have tested positive for COVID-19. The big question is, does the public have a right to know about specific locations where workers have tested positive? 10News continued on Tuesday to try to get answers since County officials confirmed on Sunday that multiple local food handlers have tested positive. On Monday, Sprouts confirmed that two employees from its Carlsbad store tested positive.It comes after the County confirmed that an Escondido Albertson's employee tested positive after 10News independently confirmed it Saturday.The County also reported that four local restaurant workers tested positive, but wouldn't say where.During Monday's press conference, 10News asked the County, “Should the public have a right to know which restaurants may have workers who have tested positive?” Dr. Nick Yphantides eventually said in part, “As far as the naming of the restaurants and so forth, it is only appropriate and relevant if there is actionable data upon which we are looking for members of the public or individuals to follow up on.”In the same press conference, Dr. Eric McDonald clarified that in certain disease cases, the County does provide names and locations, adding, “It's because it's specifically for the public to do something. We did that in Hepatitis A. We specifically named a restaurant so that individuals who patronized that restaurant could get shots to prevent illness.”He stressed that with coronavirus, it's different, saying, “In the case of COVID-19, because of the widespread community transmission, the advice to the public in a specific named restaurant would be no different than what we're giving already to the general public which is to stay at home [and] to social distance.”The County sent 10News the following statement on Tuesday afternoon."The County does not share the names of specific restaurants or grocers who have employees who test positive, but does not prohibit or discourage the respective entities from reporting the information if they feel it is in the interest of public health. We don’t report the names because, unlike in cases of TB, there is no additional action the public needs to take. Restaurants have very clear guidelines and have been diligent about following those guidelines as well as CDC protocols. Consumers need to take the same precautions to protect themselves at every restaurant they choose to pick up from by social distancing, regularly washing their hands and self-isolating if they develop any symptoms. Each restaurant worker case reported to County DEH is investigated by public health and DEH. In every case, an evaluation is made to determine if the worker worked while symptomatic and if their duties involved food handling that might put the public who ate at the restaurant (or purchased food at a grocery store) at any greater risk than general community exposure. In all instances thus far, no greater risk has been identified. It is important to note the CDC has said that currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food. And so far, in all identified instances, these entities have done everything RIGHT in terms of actions for public health.... notice, cleaning, job analysis. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cathedral Catholic High School students took part in a protest Tuesday against a ban on skirts as uniform options for girls. Officials at the Carmel Valley school changed the dress code Friday for the 2019-2020 school year. CCHS said it would ban the uniform skirts, citing multiple detentions based on enforcement. Female students will have the option to wear pants, capri pants, or Bermuda shorts, the school said. “By removing the option for girls to wear skirts at a Catholic school not only demeans me as a female, but makes me wonder if we are moving towards a gender neutral society. I believe this is sexist, patriarchal and sexualizes the female students unnecessarily,” said freshman student Rachel Donaldson.
