"13 Reasons Why" returns to Netflix this weekend for its third season, a show whose premise -- originally built around the mystery surrounding a teen suicide -- really should have wrapped up after one.In a way, the streaming service's decision to hang onto that series, even as it irritates some subscribers by shedding others, is indicative of the growing pains and competitive pressures with which Netflix is grappling, and why there could be trouble signs ahead. To be fair, Netflix has in short order become a dominant force in the content game, one that Hollywood Reporter critic Tim Goodman 608

A homeless man accused of using a metal rod to bludgeon four other homeless men to death in New York has appeared in court on Sunday.Prosecutors said he was arrested holding the murder weapon covered with blood and hair, and admitted that he was the person in a video of one of the attacks.Randy Santos was arraigned on charges of murder and attempted murder for the bloody rampage that happened early on Saturday in Manhattan's Chinatown. The 24-year-old did not enter a plea and was not granted bail.A fifth homeless man who was injured in the attacks remained hospitalized in critical condition Sunday. 616

A federal court in Washington, DC, has unsealed five search warrants that special counsel Robert Mueller obtained while investigating Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer. The newly unsealed documents show how Mueller had a judge's permission to follow the money from Russian sources to Trump's personal lawyer, and had reason to look into Cohen's extensive contacts with Russian government-linked individuals, some of which began on the day Trump won the presidency. The documents are from 2017, before Mueller referred the Cohen investigation to federal prosecutors in Manhattan, and generally show how Mueller was allowed to dive into Cohen's email accounts, including his Trump Organization email address. In a search warrant application from July 2017, prosecutors outlined how Cohen started communicating with a Russian-connected company on Election Day. Over the next year, there were more than 1,000 calls and text messages between Cohen and the CEO of that company, Columbus Nova.In the filing, Mueller's team made it clear that Cohen began contacting the company immediately after the election: "Telephone records show no such text messages or telephone calls between COHEN's cellular telephone and the CEO of Columbus Nova prior to November 8, 2016."Columbus Nova is an American company linked to Viktor Vekselberg, a prominent Russian oligarch. In the documents, prosecutors noted his "various connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin."Despite being investigated for acting as a foreign agent, Cohen was never charged with that crime. He pleaded guilty to other crimes, including tax evasion, campaign finance violation, and lying to Congress and 1702

2018 has been a tumultuous year in Washington — we've seen unprecedented turnover in the White House, the passings of two political statesmen, and indictments of several Trump associates as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation (which still continues full speed ahead). The holidays, however, are a time to be hopeful. As the second year of the Trump administration comes to a close, here are five moments from this year's political news that everyone can find something to smile about, no matter your political leaning.1. Michelle Obama and George W. Bush's friendshipSince President Barack Obama took office, protocol has placed these two next to each other during official events. Former first lady Michelle Obama and former President George W. Bush have been spotted hugging, joining hands and just seeming to enjoy one another's company over the years, but their friendship went on full display earlier this year at the late Sen. John McCain's funeral. The two shared a sweet moment (and social media virality) when Bush handed Obama a cough drop in their row of former presidents and first ladies. At his own father's funeral later in the year, Bush repeated the gesture, handing Obama another small item from his pocket when he greeted her.In an interview in November, Obama said that her friendship with 43 "reminds us that we can get there with the right leadership and with the right tone setting and with each of us giving one another the benefit of the doubt.""I'd love if we as a country could get back to the place where we didn't demonize people who disagreed with us," she added.2. Tammy Duckworth's baby on the Senate floorIn April, Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth gave birth to a baby girl, making her 1746

A catering cart caused utter chaos at Chicago O'Hare International Airport Monday until an American Airlines employee saved the day.Dr. Kevin Klauer, an osteopathic physician, caught video of the cart's crazy circular ride on the tarmac while waiting for his flight to Tennessee."At first it was humorous to see this drive itself and not fall over, but then as it picked up speed it presented danger to people," Klauer told CNN.Video shows the cart spinning wildly in circles with food and trays scattered around it. Employees on the tarmac can be seen trying to approach the cart, but it's clear the cart is too out of control for them. It appears one employee was hit by the cart.As the cart continues to spin, it gets closer to the nose of an airplane until an employee in another vehicle crashed into the cart to avoid catastrophe."Everyone was actually really quietly watching this unfold," Klauer said. "When it ended, the whole gatehouse erupted in applause."American Airlines said in a statement that preliminary reports showed the cart's accelerator got stuck and caused the cart to lose control."No American Airlines team members were injured and the incident resulted in one 10-minute flight delay," American Airlines said in a statement. "We appreciate the quick action of our team member who stopped the vehicle."Klauer uploaded the video on Twitter before his flight took off. By the time he landed in Knoxville, he said his phone had blown up with notifications from the thousands of notifications. 1525
