Bill Gates is sorry that he made it so annoying to log in to your computer. The billionaire Microsoft co-founder admitted Wednesday that the Control-Alt-Delete function used to start up Windows computers is an awkward maneuver."If I could make one small edit, I'd make that a single key," Gates said Wednesday on a panel at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum in New York City. It's a confession Gates has made before. In 2013, he blamed IBM for the issue. 467
Brothers and Sisters, I’m going to get right to the point. I want you to know exactly where we are with our discussions with the Big 3 leadership and protecting our members and their facilities during this international crisis.I announced this past Sunday that the International UAW had formed a COVID-19/Coronavirus task force with GM, Ford and FCA to implement enhanced protections for manufacturing and warehouse employees at all three companies.I want to be very transparent about what happened during our conversation Sunday with the Big 3. The UAW leadership, based on the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations on how to protect ourselves and our communities, requested a two-week shutdown of operations to safeguard our members, our families and our communities. Your UAW leadership feels very strongly, and argued very strongly, that this is the most responsible course of action. The companies, however, were not willing to implement this request. They asked for 48 hours to put together plans to safeguard workers in their facilities. (Ford Motor Company has indicated this week that they are willing to rotate down shifts and are planning to shut down all European operations next week.)The 48-hour window is up this afternoon. We will be evaluating what the companies submit today and there will be a meeting this evening at 6 p.m., where the Task Force will review plans for the safety and health of all members, their families and our communities.I want to be very clear here: If the UAW leadership on the task force, myself and Vice Presidents Cindy Estrada, Terry Dittes and Gerald Kariem, are not satisfied that our members will be protected, we will take this conversation to the next level. These companies will be put on notice that the UAW will use any and all measures to protect our brothers and sisters who are working in their facilities. And make no mistake, we have powerful allies who have stepped up to help us. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, despite what you might have heard in some recent erroneous reports, was instrumental in assisting us in bringing the Big 3 to the table, as was U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell.I know these are very difficult days for all of us. Please know that my #1 priority, and the #1 priority of the entire UAW leadership, is the safety and well-being of our UAW family and our communities.I will be sending another update very soon on what we see from the Big 3 today.I’d like to ask that we all remember that we are all in this together. In Solidarity,Rory 2594

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - A Green Country, Oklahoma couple got the opportunity of a lifetime, a free wedding from perfect strangers planned in a day."It's all because of God that all of this has happened," said Willow Creek Mansion owner Cortney Gertner. The sun set outside the Broken Arrow mansion Wednesday evening, but the excitement inside was rising. "I didn't think we would find a bride and groom," said Poppy's Garden owner Meagan Ferren. This all started with her leftover flowers from a photo shoot a few days before."She was going to throw all of the flowers away and I was like, you can't just throw all of those beautiful flowers away," Gertner said."I was like, I know it's going to make me absolutely sick to my stomach," Ferren said. But Ferren had an idea."Then she was like, no we should find somebody that wants to get married in the next day or two and I said, seriously? And she was like, yea, you should post something about that."Gertner put the post on the mansion's Facebook page offering a free wedding in just two days."Whenever I went to my Facebook app It was the first thing I'd seen," said bride Karissa Alexander, who said she thought it was hilarious."I sent it to him as a joke.""She kind of sent it to me laughing, you know. So I sent it back, 'do it,'" said then, fiance Tyler Alexander. He was kidding, of course. But it was too late.Just 24 hours later, Karissa's bridal suite was buzzing."It was actually setup for September of last year and we postponed it for this year."Reflecting on a trying year that left her handcrafted wedding dress sitting in her mother's closet waiting indefinitely for the day Tyler could finally see it.The moment, was unforgettable."Everything that's happened has been, I just feel like it's a God thing," Ferren said.Everything coming together for the anniversary date that chose them. The day, planned in a day, is one they'll never forget.Karissa and Tyler said they're extremely grateful to every vendor and professional that dedicated their talents for free to their special day: Willow Creek Mansion (Venue), Poppy's Garden (Florist), Tracie Carlton Event Planning & Design (Officiant husband Matt), Katrina Wheeler Photography (photographer), Laurannae Baking Co. (Cakes) and Mr. Letney who gave a Unity Cross. 2316
BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) - A Marine Corps helicopter made a “precautionary” landing near the I-15 freeway and Highway 76 near Bonsall Monday afternoon. A spokesperson for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing said the crew of the CH-53E Super Stallion noticed an indicator light in the cockpit signaling a generator had failed. Around 3:30 p.m. the helicopter landed safely in a field on the west side of I-15, north of highway 76. No one was injured, according to a MAW spokesperson. The aircraft remained in the field through the evening and was scheduled to return to MCAS Miramar on Tuesday. 592
Because obesity is a high-risk factor for COVID-19, there’s been an increased interest in bariatric surgery during the pandemic. Now, there's some evidence the procedure does in fact lower a person's risk of severe symptoms.“When the metabolic profile of the patients improve, patients are getting healthier and seem like they can fight the virus stronger and their outcomes are going to be better,” said Dr. Ali Aminian, Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. The Bariatric and Metabolic Institute identified patients who had weight loss surgery prior to getting COVID and matched them against a control group of obese patients who also got COVID-19. Only 18% of those who had surgery were hospitalized with COVID-19, compared to 42% of the obese patients.None of the people in the surgery group ended up in the ICU, on a ventilator or died. Some in the obesity group did.Doctors believe because they had surgery, that group was healthier.Aminian says the number of bariatric patients at the Cleveland Clinic is almost double what it was last year. He stressed it’s a very safe, but not simple procedure.“It's a tool. It's a very safe tool. It's a very effective tool,” he said. “We help them in the journey, but patients need to use the tools to succeed.”Bariatric surgery candidates meet with a dietitian, psychologist, regular doctor and surgeon both before and after surgery.Despite the evidence of weight loss and surgery improving numerous conditions, access is still an issue. Even those with insurance may still only get a portion of the surgery paid for. 1606
