La Bella Pizza Garden is one such mom and pop shop.10News anchor Kimberly Hunt stopped by this 1950s pizza parlor, now run by Tony Raso.“I used to roll pizza and make meatballs in the 70s”, says Raso.Raso proudly displays photos of his mother and father, who opened the restaurant almost 60 years ago.“That's his delivery vehicle in the 50s. They enjoy our classic pizza. It's never changed," said Raso. “We make meatballs, spaghetti, lasagna. They've been cooking all day.”La Bella Pizza Garden now has three generations of family history. Raso’s son Michael works alongside his father. He will eventually take over the business. He says their customers are family too. “When I'm working up front, they come in and say my grandparents came here, we come here, our kids come here, You can't stop that, you've got to keep it going," said Michael Raso. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista school rallied around one of its own students faced with tragedy Thursday night.Camarena Elementary hosted a fundraiser for the family of Aura Mancilla, a mother who was murdered earlier this month.“She was here [at Camarena] almost every day trying to help out her daughter and our community,” said her friend and PTA President Karina Jones. Chula Vista Police said David Bell shot Aura Mancilla and her aunt, Patricia Garcia, in Mancilla’s home.  Thankfully, Mancilla’s daughter, Iyali, wasn’t home.  Bell later took his own life.The Camarena community organized a dinner fundraiser Thursday night where local vendors brought their food trucks and tents and donated 20% of the proceeds to the family. “It’s something that you want to take care of that child to make sure that she’s still loved and that we’re here for her,” said Jones.Chula Vista Police said they still don’t have a motive for the two killings. 989

(KGTV) - A South Bay mom says the dinner she ordered using a food delivery app never arrived, and the driver couldn't be tracked down."It was my second time using the app," said Melissa Stone.Last Sunday, when Stone's kids had a craving for burgers and fries, she signed into her Grubhub app and ordered an early dinner from Bull Chicks in Chula Vista. An hour passed, but there was no food."Went onto the app, checked the delivery status, and it said it was delivered," said Stone.Confused, she checked her front door but didn't see any deliveries. She called the restaurant. An employee told her her food had been picked up by the driver 15 minutes earlier. She asked for the driver's information and got a woman's name and number. Stone says she tried to contact the driver, but the number was disconnected."I'm upset and hangry at this point," said Stone.She says when complained to Grubhub, they didn't have any answers but gave her a refund."I think somebody was hungry, took my food and ate it," said Stone.Melissa posted the incident on Facebook and got several responses from local Grubhub customers with similar stories, including one involving a male driver who reportedly picked up the food but didn't deliver it."They never received their food," said Stone.And they may not be alone. According to a 2019 survey by US Foods, nearly 30% of drivers with food delivery apps, admit to snacking or stealing the food they're responsible for delivering. A Gruhhub spokesperson issued the following statement:"Our mission is to connect hungry diners with great, local restaurants. We always want our diners to have the best experience possible, and the vast majority of our 450,000 orders each day are completed without incident or complaints. But when things don’t go as planned, we appreciate hearing feedback and work hard to make it right.We looked into the two orders brought to our attention and found they are separate, isolated incidents. Both diners were helped by our customer care team and received refunds for the affected orders and promo codes for future orders. We did not find any evidence of misconduct by our drivers during either of the deliveries.Overall, we have zero tolerance for misconduct from our delivery partners, and we work to immediately resolve incidents. Our drivers sign a contract before partnering with us that makes it clear that misconduct is not permitted. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Police are searching for the person responsible for stabbing a man during a reported fight in Chula Vista.Police said they were called Wednesday just after 1:30 a.m. over a reported fight in the 500 block of Flower Street and that someone had been injured.Chula Vista Police arrived to find a Hispanic man in his 20s unresponsive with a stab wound on his upper body.The man was treated at the scene, but died of his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.No suspect was in custody Wednesday and police could not offer a possible description.Chula Vista Police Homicide Detectives were investigation the stabbing and ask anyone with information to call 619-691-5074. 732

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Talk about setting the academics bar high.An unexpected message sent to families of Rancho del Rey Middle School in Otay Ranch Wednesday night left about 2000 students trying to explain why they were required to attend Saturday School.("Could you describe the ruckus, sir," was probably said.)The school blitzed automated phone messages, texts, and emails alerting parents or guardians to have their child at school 8 a.m. Saturday morning for a half day of study."A teacher will come out to greet your student and escort them to a classroom, they are released at 12pm. Students should bring school work or reading materials for a 4 hour period of study," the message said.The school, which broadcast the messages to every registered family at around 5 p.m., confirmed about five hours later that the barrage of alerts was an error. "Earlier today a message about Saturday School was sent to all students. Please disregard the message, it was meant for a select group of students that needed to attend," said Rancho del Rey Middle School Assistant Principal Michael Govea.Since the school offices were closed when the messages were sent, nobody was around to answer calls from anxious families. In the span of that radio silence, trepidation across the student body prompted people to search for answers on Facebook."A few of my son friends received a notice for Saturday school from rancho del Rey middle. These kids are good student with no absences. Any parent receive a message about Saturday school?," one parent posted on a Facebook community page."I hope they send another message out saying it was a mistake or they are going to have a huge drop off on Saturday morning for Saturday school lol," another parent wrote.While the epic Breakfast Club summit won't take place, the school is requiring at least some students to be at campus this weekend.
