Schaefer's Schnauzers in Derby, New York can have eight to 10 Miniature Schnauzers in one home at any time. The puppies are more expensive than adopting, but are brought up in a social setting and are matched with the right families after they turn eight months old.Sandy Schafer has been breeding pups for over 20 years. She said a good breeder will take the time to make sure a puppy is ready to live in a new home, and will take care in picking the right family for each one. She said a breeder should have as many questions for you as you have for the breeder.Adopting a dog, on the other hand, has a variety of positives. Gina Browning of the SPCA serving Erie County, New York said the emotional benefits in adopting a pup are immense, especially because you're giving them a second chance at life. Also, the cost is much cheaper, and the dog will be spayed and neutered by the time it comes home with you.Since the SPCA serving Erie County moved to its new location on Harlem Road in West Seneca, Browning said traffic coming in is better than ever. Schafer said while she doesn't have any dogs available for sale right now, she has a waiting list 20 people long. 1223

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has released the results of a DNA analysis showing she has distant Native American ancestry, which could pre-empt further questions and attacks should she run for president in 2020.Warren first faced scrutiny for her purported Native American heritage during her 2012 Senate race. But President Donald Trump has revived and amplified the controversy as he eyes Warren as a possible rival, frequently mocking her with the nickname "Pocahontas."But Warren now has documentation to back up her family lore, thanks to an analysis performed by Carlos Bustamante, a professor of genetics at Stanford and adviser to Ancestry and 23 and Me.In a rollout video about Warren's heritage, the Massachusetts Democrat is seen sitting behind a laptop as she calls Bustamante. 789

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department officials say no charges will be filed against a couple who wore a swastika mask at a Santee grocery store in May.SDSO said after investigating there wasn't enough evidence to charge the couple with a crime. On May 7, SDSO says a man and woman walked into a Food 4 Less wearing surgical masks with swastika symbols attached to them. The store's management asked the couple to remove the masks, and after they refused, deputies were called, SDSO said.Deputies arrived and asked the couple to also remove the masks, to which the man reportedly replied, "I'm not here promoting some Nazi propaganda. I'm here peacefully protesting against the Governor's insane lockdown."The man also told deputies he was upset and frustrated with the state lockdown. After deputies told the man the store has the right to refuse business and asked them again to remove their masks, they did."This incident should serve as a reminder for anyone contemplating wearing or displaying items closely associated with hate and human suffering that our society does not tolerate this behavior," an SDSO spokesperson said in a release. "Santee is a city of families and the community is rightfully disgusted at this couple's despicable behavior. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department thoroughly investigates incidents such as these and will hold those who violate the law accountable."The incident occurred just days after a Santee man was photographed at a Vons wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood. 1527

SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - Surveillance video obtained by ABC 10News shows a gas thief in action in Santee.Just before 3 a.m. last Wednesday, at a business park off North Woodside Avenue, the video revealed a masked man up to no good."Just sad seeing someone doing that," said Kevin Wilson. The owner of the vans shown in the video is Kevin Wilson, co-owner of carpet cleaning and repair company, Southwestern Carpet Works. Hours later, he arrived and smelled the aftermath."Pulled up to work and I could immediately smell gas," said Wilson. When he looked at the gas gauge of his box van, his heart sank."Instantly could tell there was less than a quarter tank, and there was a full tank the day before," said Wilson. Here's why. In the video, a man is seen carrying a water jug and some tubing. The man shoves the tube into the gas tank, before puts the tube to his mouth and siphoning the gas.He would get away with about 20 gallons of fuel."Angry and disappointed. He is stealing from a small, family business. If you steal from us, you’re stealing from our kids and our employees' kids," said Wilson.Like most small businesses, his was impacted by COVID-19"For the first month-and-a-half to two months, it was really slow," said Wilson.Fast forward to the end of summer. Wilson believes the gas thief in the video is the same one that hit his business two others times in the past few months."In times past, a little more cautious. He had his back to camera, but dressed in similar clothes and shoes," said Wilson.Wilson says other businesses in the area have also been targeted in the same time period. The rash of gas thefts is fueling plenty of frustration."If he’s not caught, he’ll continue to do it to the next business and the next business," said Wilson.Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Santee Sheriff's Station at 619-956-4000. 1867
