(KGTV) -- Video shows a bear opening the door of a car at Lake Tahoe before taking something out of the back seat.The video, which was captured on security footage, shows the bear standing on its hind legs and opening the door with its paw.The bear can then be seen crawling into the back seat and digging around for a few seconds before climbing out with a bag of food.The renters of the home sent the homeowners the video. The owners, who are Airbnb hosts, say they were surprised to see the bear since they take precautions to keep their trash and other items secure. 597

LAS VEGAS — A new Harvard study with the Movement Advancement Project shows that COVID-19 has negatively impacted LGBTQ+ households more than non-LGBTQ+ households, especially if they are Black or Latinx."There tend to be worse outcomes in general," explained Dr. Ryan Cox, behavior health director at the LGBTQ Specialty Clinic at Truman Medical Center."Part of that is a lack of primary care," he said. "So people often in this community, particularly the transgender community, don't already have established relationships with medical providers."Healthcare workers say they are seeing these study results reflected in the community."They would rather skip their medical appointments rather than come out and expose themselves to COVID," said Nurse Care Manager Kim Tilson, also with Truman Medical Center."It is definitely having an impact," she continued. "So if you can't come in for doctor's appointments, if we can't follow up, it's hard to make sure we can refill your medications and still stay safe.The study says 64% of LGBTQ+ households have lost a job due to the pandemic, and if you're Black that number is 95% compared to less than half of non-LGBTQ+ households.A quarter of LGBTQ+ households couldn't get needed prescriptions. (KGTV) -- "As young as I can remember my mom always helped out less fortunate people in the community, I remember delivering boxes of frozen hamburgers and roasts and things like that." Giving back are two simple words but for Linda Anderson, those words bring her back to childhood, and the memory of her late mother."We had a neighbor that was elderly and my mom would cook them meals and bring them over there, and she always had some little old lady in town that she would bring to their doctor's appointments. She'd bring them food, take them grocery shopping and clean their house," Linda recalled.But as Linda's mother got older, she was no longer on the giving, but on the receiving end. She received food and other essentials from Meals on Wheels, a nationwide organization that helped seniors living along, who are trying to do things on their own."They really made a big difference between her able to live at home independently, than being placed in a care facility," said Erica Peterson, Linda's friend.When Linda's mother passed, they wanted to honor her in a way that would make her smile, even from above. They created over a thousand gift bags with toiletries, office supplies and other goodies thanks to donations that were made in her honor."I think it'd mean a lot to her, I think it'd make her feel very loved and appreciated," said Linda. She added they were helping an organization that helped others, just like her mother did."They really need a lot of help especially during pandemic. They've had a lot of issues and they haven't seen a lot of donations they regularly have. I hope it puts a smile on their face. I know when my mom got a visitor and got a gift it always put a smile on her face. I think that's what we're trying to do, pay it forward and put a little bright spot in someones life." 1849

(KGTV) -- Police and fire crews responded to the scene of several small brush fires in La Mesa Wednesday night.The fires broke out near several homes along Interstate 8 at Severin Drive near Briercrest Park. (KGTV) — Authorities are offering up to ,000 for tips leading to the arrest of the person who burglarized a gun shop in La Mesa last month.At about 11 p.m. on May 30, an unknown man burglarized Alex Imports Gun Shop located at 7839 University Ave. in La Mesa, according to the ATF. The suspect stole nine long guns, investigators say.The burglary happened the same night that rioting and looting occurred around the city.The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, about 30 years old, with black hair, about 5-feet 8-inches tall, and weighing about 200 pounds.Anyone with information is asked to call the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (888-283-8477). 679
