Several burobbed while unconsciouss riders jumped in to help the man while he went into cardiac arrest, but they ultimately got off the bus, with the exception of one.Police say 20-year-old Demontea Chappell stayed behind under the guise of giving aid but was seen on camera taking the man's wallet.A video reveals the heartbreaking details."Pop? What you name is Pop?" said a young man, as the older bus passenger struggled unconsciously and not breathing."Trying to find his wallet. Where the wallet at?" that young man continues.Chappell, according to police, was acting as if he was giving aid to the Air Force veteran, but the bus video showed he went inside the man’s wallet and then slid the cash into his own pocket.Sources told WTVR's Jon Burkett that the veteran always carried cash, but how much money he had that day was unknown.Police now have a warrant for Chappell's arrest.The veteran died on the bus near the corner of First and Federal last Thursday morning.Sources tell WTVR that after family members questioned why their loved one’s wallet was empty, officials with the Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) went to the recordings and alerted police. ROCHESTER, Indiana — The woman accused of crashing into four Indiana children as they crossed the street to get on a school bus pleaded not guilty Thursday morning, according to ABC 57 News in South Bend. The suspect, 24-year-old Alyssa Shepherd, had previously told police she saw the lights from the bus but didn't realize what it was until the kids were in front of her. She has been charged with three counts of reckless homicide and one count of disregarding the stop arms on a school bus causing injury. The crash happened Oct. 30, near the intersection of State Road 25 and CR 400 N in Fulton County.Police say Shepherd was driving a Toyota Tacoma on State Road 25 sometime after 7 a.m. when she allegedly "disregarded" the stop arm and lights on a stopped school bus in front of a mobile home park, striking four kids who were crossing the street to board the bus. Alivia Stahl, 9, and her twin brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, 6, were all pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth child was also hit. Right now there is a mystery taking place over the Southwest United States.Hundreds of thousands of birds have been found dead since the beginning of September, according to wildlife experts in New Mexico and Colorado, where some of the most have been reported.“[It’s] really strange. Literally, birds dropping out of the sky type of thing,” said Alison Holloran, the executive director Audubon Rockies. “I actually got emails from Texas and New Mexico as well, where they’re also seeing larger numbers of die-offs.”The crowdsourcing website inaturalist.org has become a spot for people to post pictures of birds they have found as a way to provide more information to biologists and wildlife experts working to figure out why this is happening.The site reports more than 1,000 incidents have been reported involving 191 different bird species.“This is a very strange event,” said Travis Duncan, a spokesman with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. “Heavy smoke from the wildfires may have played a part in creating navigation challenges for the birds.”Duncan says biologists are still performing necropsies to determine a cause, but he says all signs point to a combination of the wildfires raging across the western United States and an early-season cold front at the beginning of September that brought snow and freezing temperatures to parts of the Midwest and Southwest.Duncan says it may have caused the birds’ main food source, which is insects, to die off, forcing these birds to migrate without enough fat and weight to keep them safe once the cold front hit.“This is a web of life.
