And they’re seen to have the highest honesty and ethics values.“What I am advocating or stressing is that nurses need to know exactly how the mRNA vaccines work,” said Dr. Ernest Grant, President of the American Nurses Association (ANA). “You know, because they're going to be needed to help persuade the public that they need to take the vaccine as well.”Grant isn't just asking nurses to be vaccine advocates. He’s one himself. He took part in the modern vaccine trial.Grant says he believes he got the vaccine, not the placebo, because of the fatigue he felt after the second shot.He says vaccines come at a time that will not only save lives, but also keep more nurses from leaving the profession due to burnout and stress.“It’s tough to go to work to work 12 hours or 16 hour shifts a day and have, you know, maybe a death every other hour or so,” said Grant.Nurses are also losing their lives. Yet, teachers of color make up just 20% of the workforce. Close to 40% of all schools don't have a single teacher of color.Meanwhile, racial and ethnic minority students now make up a majority of the public-school population.Schools have made gains recently hiring more teachers of color, but retention is an issue because they leave the workforce at a higher rate than white teachers. The Education Trust found that's in part due to working conditions.Minority teachers often take on additional roles outside of teaching that they are not paid or even recognized for.School culture is another significant factor.“Discipline policies that educators of color are frankly tired of seeing and our country is tired of seeing the way that students are over disciplined, are misunderstood, particularly students of color, are driven out of school, are suspended for minor misconducts,” said Duncan.The Education Trust has recommendations on how schools can retain teachers of color, starting with collecting data by race and ethnicity on recruitment, hiring and retention. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A U.S. Marine Corps truck caught fire on northbound Interstate 5 in Oceanside Friday afternoon, backing up traffic on the busy freeway. Witnesses reported the military vehicle on fire with small explosions about 1 p.m., according to Oceanside Fire Division Chief Pete Lawrence. Two Marines were in the truck when “they heard a loud bang and immediately saw smoke and fire in the rear of the cab,” Lawrence said. The troops escaped without injury.
