A Phoenix man was arrested after stabbing his father so many times, the knife broke, according to court records. Phoenix police report that on Friday, March 1, they were called to a home in Phoenix after a witness observed mail collecting in a resident’s mailbox.Police discovered Clemente Valenzuela Garcia decomposing in the home. Police say he died from multiple stabs wounds to "multiple planes of his body."It is believed Clemente died on February 22.At the crime scene, police also allegedly found a broken knife blade and bloody footprints leading away from the victim’s body.Family members reported to police that Clemente and his son, Erik Joseph Garcia, 25, owned a truck together and that the truck was missing. Police also found an "extensive domestic violence history at the residence."A witness later reportedly gave police a social media video that shows Erik saying, "He deserved it. Everybody’s happy without him. I was done with him because I'm a man now. I'm free."Upon his arrest, Erik reportedly told police that he was tired of being yelled at, and he stabbed Clemente in the chest, multiple times until the knife broke.Police say shoes found in the bed of Erik's truck match the bloody footprints at the scene.Erik Garcia is being held without bond for first-degree murder. 1308

A school bus driver was arrested after she overdosed while driving and crashed into a tree, Newark police said.The driver, Lisa Byrd, was transporting a dozen students from 14th Avenue School in Newark when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Wednesday, officials said in a statement.When first responders arrived, police said they revived the 57-year-old woman with Narcan -- a drug that instantly reverses the effects of overdose from heroin and other opioids.The students, ages 5 to 13, were not injured, police said.Byrd, who was taken to a local hospital, is facing 12 charges of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while impaired and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.It was not immediately clear whether Byrd has an attorney."Endangering the lives of Newark children is something we will not tolerate," said Newark Mayor Ras J. A University of Utah senior missing for more than a week was last seen at a park where she met someone in a car, Salt Lake City police said.Mackenzie Lueck, 23, arrived at Salt Lake City International Airport on June 17 after visiting family.She then took a Lyft to Hatch Park in North Salt Lake, where she was last seen in the early-morning hours."Mackenzie was met at Hatch Park by an individual in a vehicle. The Lyft driver left Mackenzie at the park with that person and stated that Mackenzie did not appear to be in any type of distress," Assistant Police Chief Tim Doubt told reporters on Monday.Doubt said detectives are canvassing the area around the park and are looking for video surveillance. He said police have not yet confirmed the make or model of the car or obtained a description of the person."To date the family and her friends have not heard from her," Doubt said. Police confirmed she missed a flight to Los Angeles on the morning of June 23. He said Lueck, who lives in an apartment in Salt Lake City, also missed a midterm exam."At this time there is no evidence that any harm has come to her. However because of the circumstances of the case we want to make sure that she is all right."Police said Lyft and the Lyft driver have cooperated with the investigation.
