(KGTV) - The mother of a crash victim is pleading for the driver of the car to come forward.Monica Cloyd said her son, Michael Gutierrez, was severely injured Saturday morning on Wildcat Canyon Road near the Barona Casino when the driver of the car he was in crashed into a pole.She says the car belonged to her son, a 23-year-old ironworker, but said he had been drinking so he gave his keys to his friend.RELATED: Prosecutors: Ramona driver tried to hide evidence of hit-and-run crashEarlier in the night, she said they had been at a party in La Jolla but her son’s friend ended up driving them to Barona instead of going home.They made it to the casino, but on the way back, the car crashed along Wildcat Canyon Road.Cloyd said a 16-year-old girl was also in the car and was seriously injured.RELATED: Hit-and-run victim placed on life support days before his wedding dayThe man who was driving ran from the scene, according to Cloyd. She said authorities have not been able to locate him. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) — East County residents say they're behind a local dog rescue's efforts to provide for canines, but that the facility has been operating dangerously.Suzy Avalos lives next door to the Happy Hearts German Shepherd Rescue, which is run out of a La Mesa home. She tells 10News the dogs that reside in the yard have had no problem jumping the fence."You see the fence is not high. It's right up here. The dogs don't have a problem jumping over this fence," Avalos said. "I've lived here for 10 years and it's just progressively getting worse."RELATED: Disease fatal to dogs that can spread to humans on the rise in some statesWhen the dogs escape they can also be aggressive, neighbors say, with at least one dangerous incident being recorded. 10News obtained records from the La Mesa Police Department showing at least 28 instances where officers responded to the dog rescue to help round up escaped canines or help people who say they were attacked by the dogs."We have a lot of people on this street that have young kids and I'm just worried a child is going to get bit or something worse is going to happen," Avalos said. "They're out of control and she should not have a license."The woman who runs the dog rescue, Donna, declined an interview by 10News. LANATANA, Florida — A man jumped out of bushes and randomly attacked a woman with a chainsaw around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Lantana police said.The woman, who is in her 60s, was walking along Hypoluxo Road near Seacrest Boulevard when the man attacked her, according to police.The woman was taken to a local hospital for with serious injuries to the chest and hands but is expected to survive.Lantana police have the attacker in custody. They identified him as 20-year-old Juan Cabrera Jr."He actually made a comment that he woke up this morning, went and got something to eat. We can't confirm or deny if he's got any kind of mental illness or not. But he did make a comment to the investigator that he saw the lady in the area and he quote stated, 'I'm going to end this woman's life,' " Lantana Police Chief Sean Scheller said.The incident occurred near the Super 8 Motel at 1200 Hypoluxo Blvd., where the suspect was staying.The woman said she did not know the man and thought he was a landscaper, police said. (AP) — A Michigan couple whose large family attracted attention by growing to include 14 sons has welcomed their first daughter nearly three decades after the birth of their first child. Kateri Schwandt gave birth Thursday to Maggie Jayne, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces and entered a world filled with 14 older brothers. Jay Schwandt tells the Detroit Free Press that he and his wife, both 45, “are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family.” They live in the rural community of Lakeview, about 30 miles northeast of Grand Rapids. (KGTV) - A Lakeside woman who spent ,000 to have solar panels installed on her home is angry about an 8 electric bill from San Diego Gas and Electric.Michaela Wright told 10News her power bill is three times higher than it was at this time last year.“How could I possibly get a bill this high when I bought solar panels,” questioned Wright.Wright called the high bill “price gouging” and said it was "out of hand" with a 26 percent rate hike coming in the next three years. She’s been writing letters to lawmakers and calling the governor to demand action.To make a difference, Wright also wants her East County neighbors to talk part in a walk-out. She would like to see residents leave their homes and stop using power between 4 and 9 p.m., twice a month.“Hit them in the pocketbooks because money talks and when you start losing money they start paying attention.
