That bold sales pitch brought members of Congress from nine states to Coolidge, Airzona on Tuesday."When they said they had secured a bond for the full amount of the contract to build the 220 some odd miles in a year on budget, on time, that's got to be attractive does it not?" said East Valley Congressman Andy Biggs. Biggs arranged an up close look at how Fisher proposes to install the wall along four sections of the border: 42 miles near Yuma, 69 miles near El Paso, Texas, 16 miles near El Centro, California and the longest stretch 91-miles south of Tucson. "I want to show we're not just building a barrier. We're building infrastructure for Border Patrol Agents," said Fisher President and CEO Tommy Fisher. Fisher says his team can dig a trench insert the iron-steel fence and fill in the base with concrete at a rate of a mile a day. "I am impressed," Congressman Biggs said, "it seems a pretty efficient way to do it."Fisher's original bid was rejected because the company said it was penalized for not doing any current work on the border. The demonstration was an attempt to build support in Congress that it should be reconsidered. The members who came to Coolidge were all Republicans. No Democrats showed. They were invited Congressman Biggs said, "I would have loved for them to come," Biggs said, "Even if they walked away feeling different about things than I do, I will still like them to see this." Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, who represents the West Valley and is a member of the Homeland Security Committee said, "on the border wall they will not give at all. They don't want any money coming to a border fence or border wall. That's unfortunate. It's part of the solution."Congressman Biggs and Congresswoman Lesko say there is money available from drug interdiction, asset forfeiture, and the federal budget which can be used to fund border wall construction while the courts decide whether the President's Emergency Declaration is legal. "We initiated this voluntary recall after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicated the possible presence of asbestos fibers in product samples from one lot of each product," says the recall from Claire's Stores. "Inhalation of asbestos over time has been linked to serious adverse health consequences. The products are no longer available in our stores, but may still be in the homes of consumers." Despite saying that the spread of coronavirus is going to get "very, very bad," President Donald Trump said that he plans on reopening commerce in the country "very soon."The statement is at odds at the recommendation of many leading public health officials, who suggest the worst of the spread of the coronavirus might not come until for later in the spring, although an exact date on the peak is still up in the air, according to the CDC. Trump in his Monday press briefing suggested that the economic fallout from preventing the spread of coronavirus could be worse than the actual spread of coronavirus. "America will again, and soon, be open for business. Very soon. A lot sooner than three or four months that somebody was suggesting. A lot sooner. We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself," Trump said.Trump's comments were back by economic adviser Larry Kudlow, who told Fox News on Monday, "The president is right. The cure can't be worse than the disease. And we're going to have to make some difficult tradeoffs."The Trump administration is requesting states to not issue updated unemployment numbers as many workers are out of work to prevent the spread of the virus. The Dow Jones has lost more than one-third of its value in the last six weeks as the virus has spread globally.Last week, the Trump administration issued a 15-day guidance to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Trump said that the guidance will be reevaluated next week. Amid the guidance, a number of states have closed all non-essential businesses in order to slow the spread of the virus. The top concern is that hospital could be overwhelmed with a surge of patients. Trump added that "We're giving the governors a lot of leeway."Trump said on Monday that reopening sections of the economy will take weeks and not months. "We can do both at the same time," Trump said about reopening the economy and preventing the spread of coronavirus. As part of fighting the virus, Trump boasted about several drugs that are being shipped to the states, with the hope they can be used to treat coronavirus patients. These drugs however, as of Monday, are still early in the testing phase and have not been approved by the FDA as a treatment for coronavirus.Also during Monday's news briefing, Trump and Attorney General William Barr said that an executive order will be issued to prohibit the hoarding of medical supplies. Barr said that the order won't go after individuals who have a large stockpile of supplies, but will target corporations and businesses that could potentially have warehouses full of supplies, such as masks and hand sanitizer.
