Border Patrol says 35-year-old Michael Domenech approached the checkpoint on Interstate 8 near Pine Valley, in a car at about 2 a.m. Saturday.When agents approached the driver, he drove away from the checkpoint. Authorities say agents used a tire deflation device to deflate one of the car's tires.The pursuit continued for 20 minutes until Domenech was taken into custody.Domenech is wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of Cory Vargas in Providence on Sept. 24. 640

PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton University has announced plans to remove the name of former President Woodrow Wilson from its public policy school because of his segregationist views, reversing a decision the Ivy League school made four years ago to retain the name.University president Christopher Eisgruber said in a letter to the school community Saturday that the board of trustees had concluded that “Wilson’s racist views and policies make him an inappropriate namesake” for Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs and the residential college.Eisgruber said the trustees reversed their April 2016 decision in light of the recent killings of George Floyd and others. President Trump has signed the Music Modernization Act into law, a bill that will bring sweeping changes to the way music is licensed and songwriters are paid.Supporters say the Music Modernization Act, championed by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee), will ensure that songwriters get paid fairly for their work in the streaming age.  A key aspect of the legislation is the creation of a new independent entity that will license songs to companies that play music online. The group will then pay songwriters, while digital streaming services, like Spotify or Pandora, can ask for a blanket license. This is the first overhaul to music copyright law in decades. The law will also make sure artists who made music prior to 1972 are paid.Recording artists didn't have any copyright rights in their works until 1972. Kanye West, Kid Rock and John Rich are among artists expected to attend Thursday's ceremony at the White House.   965

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Mike Pence are set to receive the COVID-19 vaccine soon.According to two transition officials familiar with the matter, Biden will receive the vaccine publicly as early as next week.
