A romance scam has claimed another victim, a woman hoping for some companionship, but whose Mr. Right turned out to be all wrong.Petronica Williams thought she found the man of her dreams on Instagram, a great looking, New York City-based fitness trainer."He inboxed me on Instagram," Williams said, "saying 'hey gorgeous, I want to get to know you.' "Her Romeo sent videos, showing him training some of the stars of the VH1 reality show "Love and Hip Hop." Williams couldn't believe he was interested in her, but he was.She says their messaging got more and more intense, and he wanted her to come to his fitness studio in New York. Unfortunately, first he had to go to Africa on a short assignment. That's when trouble developed.New friend needs money to get home"He said he was over there working as a fitness trainer on a contract," Williams said. "But he was stranded and needed a way to get home."He needed money fast -- specifically 0 for a plane ticket home from Africa. He promised to return the money to her as soon as he got back to the U.S.So a love-struck Williams wired it to him through MoneyGram, and figured he was on his way.But he soon messaged her again, saying the Republic of Benin, in West Africa, would not let him leave unless he paid his income taxes first."They won't let me go home because I owe ,500 in taxes," the trainer messaged her. Before Williams took the time to realize what she was doing, she said, "I sent him a total ,076." Only after he stopped texting her back did she start suspecting she had been duped, that her fitness trainer may have been conning her from West Africa all along. 1644

ALACHUA COUNTY, Florida — A portion of southbound I-75 remains closed Friday after five children and two adults were killed in a fiery crash on Thursday afternoon near Gainesville. The five children were reportedly on their way to Disney World, according to FHP. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least six patients were transported to area hospitals from the scene — multiple patients with critical injuries. Alachua County Fire Rescue says the crash occurred at 3:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 393 north of Northwest 39th Avenue. The crash involved two tractor-trailers, a passenger van and a mid-size four-door sedan, according to Florida Highway Patrol. As of Friday morning, northbound lanes and only one southbound lane of I-75 is open in the area. During a news conference on Friday morning, Lt. Patrick Riordan said the church passenger van carrying the children was from the Avoyelles Parish in Louisiana. They were traveling to Disney World when the crash occurred. The deceased children range in age from eight years old to teenagers. The two deceased adults were driving the tractor trailers. 1153

A study released Wednesday by the British Medical Journal claims that vegetarians could have a higher risk of a stroke than meat eaters. The study followed more than 48,000 participants in the UK for nearly 18 years. The study placed participants in three groups: Meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians. The study claims that vegetarians were 20 percent more likely to have a stroke than meat eaters, which equaled to be three additional haemorrhagic stroke victims per 1,000 participants. Before you change your eating habits, you should know that meat eaters were more likely to develop a heart disease than vegetarians. The difference between meat eaters and vegetarians was 10 additional cases of heart disease per 1,000 participants. According to the British Medical Journal, previous studies on the correlation between a vegetarian diet and strokes only reported stroke mortality. In those studies, there was no significant difference between vegetarians and meat eaters in stroke mortality. The study did adjust for self reported high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, and body mass index, which suggests that part of the associations might be attributed to these factors, it says."However, the lower risk in vegetarians and vegans remained marginally significant after adjustment for all of these factors," the study said.To read the full study, click 1389

A recent drug bust in Southern California yielded 18 pounds of fentanyl, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. According to authorities, that's enough fentanyl for 4 million fatal doses, or enough to overdose every single person in Orange County.Police say the threat of fentanyl is increasing exponentially. Orange County authorities "have seized more than 100 pounds of the deadly drug, setting the pace to more than double fentanyl seizures for the third year," according to a news release.Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, making even small amounts incredibly deadly."The threat this extremely potent drug poses to our community is increasing exponentially, not subsiding," Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes said in a news release.According to the California Department of Health, statewide fentanyl deaths increased 614 percent from 2014 to 2018, jumping from 104 to 743 deaths. California's figures mirror a similar national uptick of fentanyl deaths. Among the more than 70,200 drug overdose deaths estimated in 2017, the sharpest increase occurred among deaths related to fentanyl and fentanyl analogs (other synthetic narcotics) with more than 28,400 overdose deaths, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The drug seizure in Orange County on October 16 that produced 18 pounds of fentanyl, which has a street value of .25 million, also yielded 5 pounds of heroin and half a pound of methamphetamine. Police also seized a loaded semi-automatic handgun and ,000 in cash. 1557
