Now, there are apps that allow you to skip the phone call and get your food delivered straight to your door with just a few taps on a phone screen.We looked at some of the top food delivery apps to find out which is the best one to download. The apps include Postmates, Uber Eats, Door Dash and Eat 24.All four apps have slight differences when it comes to restaurants, fees and how easy they are to use. Not every app has the same restaurants on them, so you might have to use an app that has the restaurant of your liking.Door Dash was the simplest app to use because there weren’t that many choices or suggestions to help you choose what to eat.Eat 24, like many of the other apps offered food categories like American, Asian and Mexican to help you narrow down your choices.We found when placing your order on each app you had to add your credit card and address, but for Uber Eats you did not. If you have an Uber Ride Share account, it's automatically synced up to that app. It cut the ordering time in half if you were a new user.Although we used Postmates for ordering food, we learned you can use the app for ordering anything. Some use Postmates to order clothes to be picked up or getting an item from the drug store delivered to their house.No matter which app you use there’s a place to save money by adding a promo code. But, you’ll need to watch out for hidden service fees outside of the usual delivery and tax fee.A great feature all the apps have are alerts or push notifications letting you know where your food is and when it will be delivered.Almost every app delivered the food we ordered 10 minutes earlier than their estimated arrival time. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) -- A California Highway Patrol Officer who lost family members in a DUI crash is sharing his story with local students.Tuesday, students saw a graphic and emotional scene play out right before their eyes. Authorities hope it might make them think twice before drinking and driving.The mock DUI crash played out on the field at Sage Creek High School and it all looked very real. The aftermath of a drunk driving crash, fellow classmates injured or dead and one of their own eventually arrested for getting behind the wheel.For CHP Officer Mark Latulippe, the program, called Every 15 Minutes, takes on an ever greater meaning this year.A few months ago, his cousin Scott Latulippe, Scott’s wife and son were hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Austin, Texas. Scott was a well-known teacher at Valley Center High School.The message at the event Tuesday was lives forever changed because of drinking and driving. The sentiment was echoed by Officer Latulippe who says his family’s story, although tragic, is all too common.The program will continue at Sage Creek High School Wednesday with a mock funeral and presentation from Officer Latulippe. 1190

(KGTV) — The grandmother of the 17-year-old who's accused of stabbing Lisa Thorborg to death on a Carlsbad hiking trail in November doesn't believe her grandson could have committed the crime.Christie Hernandez said that she talked to her grandson, Haloa Beaudet, just after Tuesday's virtual court hearing where new surveillance images were revealed and the judge allowed the release of the teen's name. Images of his face have been ordered to remain withheld from the public."[He said] 'I'm strong. I'm going to be positive. You and papa [don't need to] worry. Tell everyone in the family that I'm okay and I'll be home soon," Hernandez told ABC 10News.RELATED: Judge releases name of Carlsbad teen murder suspect, new surveillance imagesOn Wednesday, the DA's Office confirmed that it filed a motion to request that the teen be tried as an adult but that it will take almost a year before a hearing is set where a judge will make the determination.The prosecution said this week that a surveillance camera captured Beaudet running barefoot on the street away from the trail a few minutes after Thorborg was believed to have been killed.Other images show him on the trail in the days after the murder. Detectives said that his DNA was found on the victim's shorts and a pair of his sandals were found near her body. His attorneys argue that he is a free spirit who often left his sandals behind and Thorborg may have picked them up, which is how his DNA got on her."He would not have done this. It's like stabbing me in the neck," added Hernandez.Hernandez said that he had been living with her and doing online schooling for the last two months after moving to San Diego from Hawaii. She described him as a kind young man who is incapable of violence. "We go to the store and he's helping little old ladies pick out which watermelons are good and which grapes are the sweetest and holding doors open. So, this just really baffles me," she stated. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bubba Wallace is leaving Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of the season. NASCAR's only full-time Black driver informed RPM of his decision Thursday. He will finish the final nine races in Petty's famed No. 43 car. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — U.S. history from the Mayflower through the American Revolution is on display in Carlsbad.The Green Dragon Tavern and Museum, off Interstate 5 at Palomar Airport Road, offers a full-service restaurant and a chance to look at original documents from the country's Colonial Period."Not a lot of families have the money or time or resources to be able to travel back east and experience these things first hand," says Green Dragon General Manager John Lek. "A lot of our guests say they feel like they're in Boston or New England without having to leave San Diego."The museum's artifacts are all part of a private collection owned by a local man, who asked not to be identified. He wanted to share his collection with the rest of San Diego, and put them on display at the restaurant.Among the items are documents signed by 14 of America's founding fathers. That gives visitors a chance to see the signatures of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, John Hancock and more.Lek says just seeing these items can give people a deeper link to their past."There is something authentic and something that really settles in when you have a direct connection with our forefathers," says Lek.The museum has been open for five years. Right now, everything fits within a single room. But there are plans for expansion.Lek says the museum will open a second room with more interactive and hands-on technology, as well as more artifacts from America's past.Admission to the museum is free, and it's open anytime the restaurant is open.
