L'AQUILA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said on Thursday that he was looking forward to visiting China later this year.     Obama made the remarks when meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who was here to attend the leaders' meeting of the Group of Eight (G8) and five leading emerging economies (G5) on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao.     During the meeting, Obama said the U.S. side attached importance to the U.S.-China relations, and he hoped that the upcoming U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue could generate fruitful results, according to a press release issued by the Chinese delegation.     It is important for the United States and China to enhance cooperation on major international issues, Obama said, adding that it benefits both countries and both people.     The two also exchanged views on bilateral relations and other major international and regional issues, said the press release.     Dai conveyed Hu's greetings to Obama while Obama asked Dai to pass on his greetings and good wishes to Hu.     Hu cut short his stay in Italy and skipped the G8 meeting due to the situation in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. He returned to Beijing Wednesday.

BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has called for stepped-up recycling to achieve better use of resources.     Li made the comments during a visit to pilot enterprises Thursday. He also attended a forum on the development of recycling economy.     Li emphasized the importance of recycling and urged companies to cultivate new areas of economic growth, as the global financial crisis still weighed on the real economy. QINGDAO, April 20 (Xinhua) -- China's senior navy officer said here Monday that the international fleet review to be held in east port city Qingdao on Thursday is aimed at promoting understanding about China's military development.     Ding Yiping, deputy commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy, told Xinhua in an exclusive interview that the review would serve as a platform for navies from other countries to increase their understanding about China and the Chinese navy. He is confident that the weather on Thursday would be good enough for the review to go smoothly, if "no major weather accidents happen."

High-level contact has been growing closer in recent years, as President Hu and President Medvedev met four times last year.     Wu and Medvedev jointly stressed the importance of parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, saying the exchanges reflect the high level of development of China-Russia partnership of strategic cooperation.     Wu said the high level of China-Russia partnership is fully reflected in such areas as frequent contact between top leaders of the two countries, the staging of "Russian Language Year" in China, the signing of an oil cooperation agreement between the two governments and the exchanges between the NPC and Russian parliament.     Medvedev said Wu's visit to Russia reflects the momentum of fast growth in bilateral links. Under the current environment of international financial crisis, coordination between the parliaments of the two countries will be conducive to advancing bilateral cooperation.
