The Chinese forces include missile destroyer Haikou, missile frigate Yueyang, supply ship Qiandaohu, hospital ship Peace Ark, two helicopters, a commando unit and a diving squad, totalling 1,100 officers and soldiers.

Meanwhile, it is widely expected that the visit by the Chinese president will facilitate cultural exchanges between the two sides and further deepen the two peoples' understanding of each other.

Covering a floor area of 89,000 square meters, the expo comprises four exhibition areas to highlight overseas delegates, international cooperation, new high-tech and services trade and merchandise trade.

This month's visit will be Xi's second Latin American tour as president. Last year, he visited Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica and Mexico from May 31 to June 6, during which he held talks with leaders of eight Caribbean nations.
