Gunshots rang out at a birthday party on Detroit's east side injuring multiple people.Police said at least three people were shot at during the party, and a fourth victim was hit down the street.Investigators say it happened around 11:20 p.m. Sunday at a home.Police say the victims are a 27-year-old woman shot in the face, a 32-year-old woman shot in the leg and a 40-year-old man shot also shot in the leg.  All three told police they were at a birthday party when two men started shooting.The fourth victim, a 31-year-old man down the street, says he was walking when two men walked up to him and shot him in the backside and ran away.That man says he hopped on one leg to his home where he called police.Police do not have a description of the suspects, they only know they are looking for two armed men.All of the victims are listed in temporary serious condition at Detroit Receiving Hospital.  924

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. -- A California man has a lot to be thankful for after he reportedly fought off a black bear to save the life of his pit bull named Buddy, according to CBS News.The day before Thanksgiving, Buddy was outside playing near his home in Nevada County, California. Kaleb Bentham said something didn’t sound right.“I heard a growl, looked about 75-100 feet down, and the bear was dragging him by his head, had his head in his mouth,” Benham told CBS13.Benham saved Buddy from a shelter a few years ago, and didn’t hesitate to rescue him again.“I just ran down there, plowed into the bear, tackled it and grabbed it by the throat and started hitting it in the face and the eye until it let go,” Benham said.Benham then describes the frantic search for a veterinary hospital that was open during the pandemic. HESPERIA, Calif. (KGTV) - Snow and ice created dangerous conditions for Southern California drivers on the ‘White Christmas’ Tuesday morning. In San Diego County, drivers spun out on icy roads in higher elevations, including Sunrise Highway on Mount Laguna.On Interstate 15, dozens of cars piled up on the northbound lanes in the high desert city of Hesperia, Victor Valley News reported. Mobile phone video showed a man yelling for people to leave the road, followed by the sounds of crashing cars. "As soon as I hit the top of the hill, it was ice, black ice. I crashed and everyone else around me was crashing too," Brian Bolik told Victor Valley News. "A car behind us went over the embankment and rolled." Bolik said he and another off-duty EMT heard a woman screaming in the pileup, VVN reported."I knew I needed to pull her out of the situation because the cars were just coming and coming, and then diesel trucks were also coming fast and she couldn't get out," stated Bolik. Hospital nurses in Philadelphia are ready to go on strike amid a surge of coronavirus cases across the country, according to the union. The union said in a statement that 800 members of the union at St. Mary Medical Center are planning to picket on Tuesday and Wednesday. One of the main sticking points is minimum staffing levels, which is the proportion of patients to nurses in a hospital.“Safe staffing is the main issue in our negotiation--it's why we organized last year in the first place,” says Kathy McKamey R.N., who works on St Mary's MG2 unit and has been at the hospital for 10 years, said in a statement provided by the union. “Trinity has refused to commit to the minimal safe staffing guidelines every study out there has said improve patient outcomes. But the truth is, even if they had, we don't have the staff to fill them because our wage scale is so far below that of area hospitals. Nurses are literally fleeing to other hospitals 20 minutes away where they can make to more an hour. My unit alone has lost 20 nurses since January; the perioperative areas have lost 35 nurses in the last year.
