In the last week, Pfizer has shipped more than 2.9 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine to locales throughout the US in an effort to get health care workers vaccinated amid a surge of cases nationwide.With Pfizer declaring the initial round of distribution a success, the company says it is awaiting instructions on where to ship its next batch of vaccines.“We have millions more doses sitting in our warehouse but, as of now, we have not received any shipment instructions for additional doses,” Pfizer said in a statement.Pfizer’s vaccine comes in two doses, which means those who have been vaccinated this week will be asked to return in three weeks to receive a booster. Distributing the vaccine is made more arduous due to the extremely cold temperatures required to store the vaccines.Pfizer has been working with UPS and FedEx on distributing vaccines from its warehouses. Pfizer has said that it plans on distributing up to 50 million vaccines doses globally by the end of the year.“Over the last several months, we have activated Pfizer’s extensive manufacturing network, including thousands of highly skilled workers in multiple locations. As a result, Pfizer is manufacturing and readying for release millions of doses each day, and that volume will grow over the coming weeks,” Pfizer said.As health care workers get vaccinated, the shots are slated to make their way to those living and working in assisted living facilities. Major pharmacy chains, such as CVS and Walgreens, are slated to help administer the vaccines to those in assisted living facilities.“With approximately 70 percent of the U.S. population living within three miles of a CVS Pharmacy, we’ll be easy to reach when a vaccine is authorized by the FDA and becomes available in retail settings,” Dr. Troyen Brennan, Chief Medical Officer, CVS Health, said last month. It's been several hours since Hurricane Laura made landfall, but the storm is still delivering devastating gusts of wind to inland Louisiana.In it's 4 a.m. CT update, the National Hurricane Center downgraded Laura from a Category 4 hurricane to a Category 3 hurricane. But the storm is still delivering maximum sustained winds of 120 mph, and "unsurvivable storm surge."According to the NHC, Laura will continue to deliver hurricane-force winds to central and northern Louisiana throughout the day on Thursday. The storm will then move to the northeast, bringing heavy rain to the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley regions on Friday and through the weekend.Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana at about 1 a.m. CT on Wednesday as an "extremely dangerous" Category 4 storm with 150 mph sustained winds. The Category 4 rating makes Laura is the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana in at least 60 years, according to the National Weather Service.The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Wednesday that "Laura is expected to produce catastrophic impacts from the coast to well inland; life-threatening storm surge, extreme winds, torrential rain, flooding, and tornadoes."On early Thursday morning, NOAA's Coastal Inundation Dashboard showed storm surge warnings all across Louisiana's shoreline. It’s hurt him emotionally.“I was at a loss for like, ‘what am I doing? Do I even try to continue to try to do this?,’” said Silverii, a tattoo artist at Deerhound Studio.Now, a company that makes temporary tattoos is leaving a permanent mark on this industry.“(Tattoo artists) are kind of left out to the wolves when stuff like this happens to them,” said Tyler Handley with InkBox Tattoos, a company that offers temporary tattoos for adults that last up to two weeks.To help tattoo artists make money during the pandemic, Handley’s team started the Forgotten Artists campaign where InkBox turns tattoo artists' designs into temporary tattoos and then pays the artist for every one sold.So far, this program has helped raise about million worldwide“They’ve been amazing to work with. It’s a delicate balance,” said Forte.The family planned to frame some of the birth photos for their home, but one photo ended up on Forte's Facebook wall instead and it was posted by someone else.“I was upset at first. I was like, ‘How could they take my picture like that?’”The photo, showing Forte and her husband while she is in labor, was shared on countless Facebook accounts with a false caption. Each post manipulated the story with slightly different details."One page had more than 200,000 shares on that one image saying that, ‘My wife is suffering from coronavirus. The doctors say my wife is going to die and the baby is going to have Covid too, please pray and like and share,’” said Baca.Some posts claimed Forte’s baby had died. Others posed as her husband saying he’d lost his wife and now their baby is sick.“It blew my mind that it went from an innocent moment, a powerful moment depicting birth, to a representation of COVID,” said Forte.But what is the truth? The photo was taken a year before the pandemic started in January 2019, and Forte’s son is now almost 2 years old.“It has been used in ways of trying to get people to give money or trying to get people to look at something this certain way, and so at this point, if I could stop it, I would, because I know it’s not the truth,” said Forte.A true birth story is all Baca wanted. She documented Forte’s experience for a portrait series of African-American women giving birth because she says they are under-represented in birth stories. “Black women don’t see themselves often, so we were trying to show the beauty and the power of birth for these families," Baca said.
