Watt, a star defensive end for the Houston Texans, has offered to pay for the funerals of the victims of Friday's school shooting at Santa Fe High School, NFL.com reports.Ten people were killed in the shooting on Friday morning, and another 10 were injured. A suspect is in custody and has reportedly confessed to the shooting. He's being held without bond on capital murder charges.This wouldn't be the first time Watt has stepped up for the greater Houston community in the face of tragedy. KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The latest effort to bring the NBA to Kansas City is gaining momentum.With the Toronto Raptors reportedly looking for a temporary home for the upcoming 2020-21 NBA season, Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas, congressional leaders on both sides of the state line, and even Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have joined the push to bring the 2019 NBA champions to the City of Fountains.“I think it is something that Kansas City will shine at,” Lucas said.City officials and local congressional leaders sent a letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver offering the T-Mobile Center in downtown KCMO as a temporary home for the Raptors during the 2020-21 season, which is expected to begin in December."Kansas City is well-suited to host the Toronto Raptors for the 2020-2021 NBA season and our dynamic fans would be thrilled to adopt the team as our own," a letter signed by civic leaders.Lucas signed the letter along with U.S. Rep. Jupiter and Saturn, the two largest planets in the Solar System, were stationed in nearly the same spot in the night sky on Monday, creating a bright spectacle.The positions of the two planets align once every 20 years, according to NASA. While conjunctions happen several times during the course of a typical lifetime, a conjunction of this magnitude is quite rare. The last time the two planets were this close to each other in the night sky was 400 years ago, but no one was able to see it as that conjunction occurred during the day.The last time a conjunction of his magnitude happened at night was 800 years ago.So what causes the conjunction?“You can imagine the solar system to be a racetrack, with each of the planets as a runner in their own lane and the Earth toward the center of the stadium,” said Henry Throop, astronomer in the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “From our vantage point, we’ll be able to be to see Jupiter on the inside lane, approaching Saturn all month and finally overtaking it on December 21.”The timing of the conjunction adds to the spectacle. Monday also marks the winter solstice.Being four days before Christmas, some are dubbing the event as “The Christmas Star,” although the conjunction is of planets and not stars. Scientists have long speculated whether the Star of Bethlehem was the 7 BC conjunction of the two planets.“Conjunctions like this could happen on any day of the year, depending on where the planets are in their orbits,” said Throop. “The date of the conjunction is determined by the positions of Jupiter, Saturn, and the Earth in their paths around the Sun, while the date of the solstice is determined by the tilt of Earth’s axis. The solstice is the longest night of the year, so this rare coincidence will give people a great chance to go outside and see the solar system.”While the two planets will have the appearance of being very close to each other, in reality, they will be hundreds of millions of miles apart.For the next few days, Saturn and Jupiter will remain very close to each other in the night sky. (KGTV) — Neighbors in a rural East County town are once again fighting the possible release of a sexually violent predator into their community.Currently, the Department of State Hospitals is considering Thomas Cornwell as the next new resident of the Jacumba Hot Springs area. Jacob says the individuals should, instead, be kept behind bars."As far as I'm concerned, they gave up their right to freedom when they preyed on our young and most vulnerable. They don't belong in any town. They belong behind bars," Jacob said in a statement.Since 2015, nine of 12 sexually violent predators in the county have been released into the East County. Five of 12 have violated the conditions of their release. Four have been returned to a state mental institution.Cornwell's release hasn't been finalized.
