Two students were taken into custody after they set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for ammunition to "shoot up" Combs High School in San Tan Valley, Arizona, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office. Last week, deputies responded to the school for a report of a threat.According to PCSO, a student reported to school officials that they had overheard two students talking about bringing a gun to school. Deputies say a 15-year-old student had threatened to file off the serial number of a gun and bring it to campus. A second student reportedly helped the 15-year-old set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for ammunition. "The site explained that ammunition was expensive and they needed help to shoot up Combs High School," PCSO said in a statement. The first student did not have any weapons, but the second student did have access to weapons at his home, deputies said. The second student reportedly told deputies that he did not know who created the GoFundMe account but was there when it was created. The GoFundMe account has since been removed, deputies said. Both students were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism and interference or disruption of an education institution.  1264

United Airlines is putting together strong measures when it comes to safe air travel during COVID-19.On Wednesday, the company announced that customers must wear masks while at the airport or they could risk being "banned from flying." Customers would only be banned while the mask requirement is in place."The most important thing any of us can do to slow the spread of the coronavirus is to simply wear a mask when we're around other people," said United's Chief Executive Officer, Scott Kirby in a news release. "A mask is about protecting the safety of others, and I'm proud of the aggressive and proactive steps United Airlines has taken to ensure people are wearing a face-covering in the airports where we operate and onboard the aircraft we fly."Since May 4, the airlines have required travelers on their planes to wear masks. Now, they must also wear a mask while at United's customer service counters and kiosks, United Club locations, gates, and baggage claim areas, the company said. The mandate goes into effect on Friday. 1041

US President Donald Trump has pointed to a massive caravan of migrants trekking north through Mexico as a major issue in the upcoming midterm elections. But when Election Day rolls around, on November 6, the caravan could still be somewhere in the middle of Mexico, given the group's current location, how fast it's been traveling and how long it's taken other groups of migrants to cross the country. On Tuesday, the caravan was in Huixtla, Mexico, about 50 miles from the Mexico-Guatemala border, where many of the caravan's members skirted authorities and crossed in rafts. It's still too soon to know exactly where along the vast US-Mexico border the bulk of this caravan will travel. The group only recently crossed into Mexico, and members are charting their movement daily.Organizers have told CNN they still don't know exactly which route they'll take. Much depends on the Mexican government and what routes the caravan is allowed to travel, whether its members are detained or held in certain areas and whether the group is provided with buses to speed their journey. There's a possibility some members of the caravan will split off and try to make their own way to the US-Mexico border, and that others will decide to stay in Mexico -- or return to their home countries. There's also a possibility Mexican authorities will detain members of the caravan at some point along their journey. The safest route would take them to Tijuana, across the US border from San Diego. A large caravan that crossed Mexico in the spring -- and also drew ire from President Trump -- took more than 30 days to reach Tijuana from Tapachula, Mexico -- a city this caravan departed on Monday. The closest border crossing to this caravan would be between Matamoros, Mexico, and Brownsville, Texas, about 1,111 miles away from the caravan's current location. But heading that way is considered a more dangerous route. To date, the caravan has traveled about 20 miles a day, largely on foot. If the caravan continues at that rate, reaching Tijuana could take months, and reaching Matamoros could take weeks. 2117

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) It wasn't the usual welcome home party for Tyler Priest, a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS)."I didn't think this many people would show up," he explained. "Because everyone is scared in their house, but this is really nice to see everyone."Priest was welcomed home, drive-thru style, in the parking lot of Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center Monday. He sat on a truck as family and friends drove by welcoming him home, staying at least six feet away.Priest was on his LDS mission in the Philippines and completed 20 of 24 months he set out to serve, before he was ordered to return home due to coronavirus concerns."This last Tuesday the government in the Philippines told us all foreigners need to leave," he explained. "We flew through Japan, didn't get off the plane, then through Salt Lake to San Diego."Priest returned home late Sunday night, he said he was checked for COVID-19 symptoms several times before arriving in San Diego."They did check our temperatures too many times, but I guess better safe than sorry, makes sense," he said.Although his return home was abrupt, his family is more than thrilled to have him back. It has been a difficult year for them all."While Tyler was gone his dad passed away and the community has been so sweet," said his mother, Ginny Priest. "Even in this super crazy time it's been nice to show their love from a distance."California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe was there for the Priest family when Shawn Priest, Tyler's father, was killed in a car crash."He was the one who came to tell me about my husband and stayed with me and my family throughout the day," Ginny Priest explained.Ginny Priest said she didn't know Latulippe before her husband passed away. Shawn Priest and Latulippe played softball together and were good friends. Now, Latulippe has become part of the family."He's just so much more than an officer," said Ginny Priest. "I'm just really grateful that someone who understood loss could help us through that situation, so he's really special to us.""His family has been through a lot in the last year, and we miss his dad very much," said Latulippe. He was once again there for the Priest family Monday, to not only welcome Tyler home, but to make sure everyone was being safe during this time of uncertainty."Everybody has driven by and has been responsible with it and trying to abide by the social distancing recommendations," said Latulippe."It's nice to be home," said Tyler Priest. He will now self-isolate for the next two weeks. 2579

Tupperware relied on social gatherings for explosive growth in the mid 20th century. In the 21st century, it is social distancing that is fueling sales.Restaurant pain has turned into Tupperware’s gain with millions of people in a pandemic opening cookbooks again and looking for solutions to leftovers. They’ve found it again in Tupperware, suddenly an “it brand” five decades after what seemed to be its glory days. The company had appeared to be on life support, posting negative sales growth in five of the last six years, a trend that seemed to be accelerating this year.Long gone was the heyday of the Tupperware Party, first held in 1948, which provided women with a chance to run their own business. That system worked so well, Tupperware took its products out of stores three years later. But it has struggled as more families gave up making dinner from scratch and also dining out more. Then the pandemic struck.Profit during the most recent quarter quadrupled to .4 million, Tupperware reported Wednesday. The explosion of sales caught almost everyone off guard and shares of Tupperware Brands Corp., which had been rising since April, jumped 35% to a new high for the year. Shares that could be had for around in March, closed at .80 on Wednesday.Tupperware stands apart from most other companies that have thrived in the pandemic. Unlike Netflix, Amazon.com, Peloton or even DraftKings, it doesn’t rely on a hi-tech platform. However, it’s certainly not alone as the pandemic bends how we spend our time more rapidly perhaps than any point in our lifetimes. On Monday the toymaker Hasbro said that its games division, which includes board games like Monopoly, saw a 21% jump in revenue. On Wednesday, Tupperware reported quarterly adjusted earnings of .20 per share, triple what Wall Street had expected. Revenue of 7.2 million was about 30% higher than forecasts and 14% better than last year.CEO Miguel Fernandez said the company, based in Orlando, Florida, had shifted more heavily to digital sales to accommodate those sheltering in the pandemic. He also noted “increased consumer demand.”The company earlier this year had begun a turnaround campaign. Fernandez, who once led Avon, was named CEO in March just as COVID-19 infections began to spread in the U.S. 2293
