MOSCOW, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- As economic globalization and informatization advance, all countries need to work together to achieve multiplication of knowledge and value through innovation cooperation, so as to solve development problems and promote common prosperity, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said here Tuesday.

During Harper's visit, China and Canada decided to strengthen communication and exchanges between the two countries' leaders, and establish mechanisms of foreign ministers' annual dialogue and economic and financial strategy dialogue, an indication of the strategic and high-level China-Canada relations, said Li.

Noting that the next year marks the 40th anniversary of China-Fiji diplomatic ties, Xi said China is willing to strengthen exchanges with Fiji at different levels, expand practical cooperation and push for further progress in bilateral ties.

Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), presided over the opening meeting of the session, which runs from Monday to Sunday.

China, Xi said, pays high attention to developing bilateral military relations, and stands ready to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation through high-level visits, joint drills and defense consultations and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
