SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities today publicly identified a young man who was fatally shot last week during a fight near Horton Plaza.Patrol officers responding to reports of gunfire found Angel Maravilla, 22, mortally wounded at E Street and Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp District shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police.Medics took Maravilla to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.``The initial investigation revealed the victim and a companion were involved in an altercation with a third man,'' Lt. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- A man accused of intentionally driving a pickup truck off Sunset Cliffs and into the ocean with his twin toddler daughters inside is slated to be arraigned Monday.Robert Brians, 47, is charged with 13 counts, including attempted murder, kidnapping, child abuse, child abduction, criminal threats and burglary for allegedly driving into the water on the morning of June 13 with his 2-year- old daughters inside the truck. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A motorcyclist was hospitalized with several broken bones after crashing into a pickup truck that turned in front of him in the El Cerrito area of San Diego, authorities said.It was reported at 7:16 p.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of El Cajon Boulevard, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The 29-year-old man was riding a Ducati motorcycle eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard when a 45-year-old man driving a Toyota Tacoma made a left turn in front of him while aiming for a private driveway, violating the motorcyclist's right of way, Heims said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A U.S. Army veteran pleaded not guilty in San Diego Wednesday to a pair of assault with a deadly weapon charges for allegedly stabbing an active-duty serviceman who, along with a friend, pointed out that the veteran's Private First Class badge was upside down on his uniform.Marc Dominguez, 42, who served in the Army in 2003 and 2004 as a Private First Class E-3, was ordered held on ,000 bail.Deputy District Attorney Kelly Rand told Judge Maureen Hallahan that Dominguez stabbed the active-duty serviceman and lunged at the victim's friend with a knife about 11:30 p.m. last Thursday at a Gaslamp Quarter bar after they questioned whether the defendant was in the military because a patch on his uniform was not attached correctly.The active-duty serviceman was stabbed in the head and bicep and sliced his fingers while trying to get the knife away from Dominguez, the prosecutor said.
