Lowe’s, in partnership with a group of NFL players, says it is contributing million in Christmas trees to needy families and facilities in “need of extra cheer” this holiday season.All told, Lowe’s will deliver 13,000 pre-lit trees to homes and organizations throughout the country. MCALLEN, Texas (AP) — Authorities say two police officers were shot and killed Saturday by a suspect who later fatally shot himself in a South Texas border town after responding to a domestic disturbance call. McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez identified the slain officers as 45-year-old Edelmiro Garza and 39-year-old Ismael Chavez. Garza was an officer with the police department for more than eight years while Chavez had over two years of experience. Police say the officers first met with two people who reported assaults that took place inside a nearby home on the south side of the city. The alleged shooter, whom police identified as 23-year-old Audon Ignacio Camarillo, opened fire when officers attempted to enter the home. 746

MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif.(KGTV) - Mammoth Mountain has been closed Saturday after three people were partially buried in an apparent avalanche.The popular snow resort issued the closure on Twitter, saying the avalanche struck just after 10 a.m. while Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol was performing avalanche hazard mitigation, which could involve structural measures or artificial triggering of high-risk areas."All rescue measures are in place and the mountain is currently closed," officials tweeted.The three individuals partially buried were able to free themselves.
