THORNTON, Colo. – Police in Wyoming have arrested a Thornton, Colo. man after he walked into their station and told them he had killed his girlfriend in Colorado and driven her body across state lines to Wyoming.Thornton police said Jonathan Eugene Akin, 22, was in custody of the Powell (Wyo.) Police Department after being arrested for investigation on a first-degree murder charge on Tuesday. Jail records indicate he also faces a felony charge of mutilation of a dead body.Thornton police say they were called by Powell police just before noon Tuesday and asked to conduct a welfare check on a woman at an apartment at the Champion’s Park Apartments. Powell police told Thornton police that Akin had come into their department claiming his dead girlfriend was in his vehicle.While Thornton officers were checking the apartment, Powell police confirmed the woman’s body was found inside Akin’s vehicle. Thornton police confirmed the apartment was a crime scene, Sgt. Ernie Lucero said in a news release.Akin is being held at the Park County (Wyo.) Sheriff’s Office while he awaits a hearing to be extradited back to Colorado to face charges. The teams are supplemented by professional players signed by MLB squads, and are paid a much smaller salary than their big league counterparts. While MLB has decided to push forward with a shortened season starting July 23, Minor League Baseball’s revenue model would have made it impractical for a 2020 season given most of its revenue comes from gate attendance, concessions and merchandise, compared to MLB which sees a sizable revenue stream from TV.Even though the majority of Minor League Baseball players will not play in 2020, MLB teams have formed “taxi squads” of their top minor league players. She’s guilty of checking her phone, even if it never goes off. But, how do you know you’re addicted to your smartphone?Dr. Fehling says to look out for signs like you are “on your phone all the time getting into arguments with your spouse, getting into fights with your family, and everyone is asking why can’t you be more engaged or pay more attention to them instead of being distracted by these mobile devices.”If these situations aren’t happening in your life, Dr. Fehling says symptoms come along with addiction too. For example, “anxiety, symptoms of depression or sadness, irritability or sleep problems. If you get up at night needing to check your phone.”If you are addicted to your phone and are looking to disconnect without having major withdrawals, Dr. Fehling says there are simple tasks you can do to help. “When you get into your car put your phone inside your glove compartment. You can’t actually look at it, you are not drawn to it. When you plug in your phone at night, put it on a different floor of your house.”It’s best to set concrete boundaries for yourself and your phone usage.
