SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man was slashed in the face with a knife by a family member during a fight at Ski Beach Sunday, police said.The family was gathered at the beach when an uninvited family member showed up about 2:35 p.m. Sunday, according to Officer S. Foster of the San Diego Police Department.A 31-year-old man got into a fight with another family member, who pulled a knife and slashed him below his right eye, Foster said.The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A suspect in a series of residential burglaries and auto thefts in El Cajon was arrested Thursday.Davon Lee, 20, was driving a vehicle stolen during one of the home- invasion thefts when San Diego police took him into custody Thursday afternoon, El Cajon police Lt. Kevin MacArthur said.Lee, an El Cajon resident, is suspected of committing seven burglaries in the East County city in recent weeks.In each case, the intruder entered an occupied home through an open door or window, located car keys inside and then stole a vehicle from the premises, MacArthur said. 591

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Another 2,925 of Pfizer's long-awaited COVID-19 vaccines arrived at UC San Diego Health for front line healthcare workers Tuesday morning.The vaccine -- estimated to be 95% effective at preventing COVID-19 -- recently received emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Vaccine distribution is coordinated through the California Department of Public Health and public health departments, governed by recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Following these recommendations, health care workers are receiving the first available vaccinations."Our goal is to vaccinate as many employees as quickly as possible, depending upon supplies and evolving circumstances," said Patty Maysent, CEO of UC San Diego Health."With subsequent vaccine shipments from Pfizer and as other vaccines, such as Moderna, come online, we will expand the opportunity to vaccinate to all health system employees, our patients and communities beyond.
