MOSCOW, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Donald Tsang Yan-Kuen voiced their support here on Tuesday for the development of more direct links between Russia and Hong Kong.Tsang arrived in Moscow by the first ever direct commercial flight run by a Hong Kong airline.Tsang noted that after the lifting of visa restrictions in July 2009, two-way travels between Russia and Hong Kong rose by 100 percent."I am certain this flow will be increasing further," he was quoted as saying by local news agencies."The updating of the relevant listing rules in June this year would facilitate the listing of (Russian) mining and resource companies in Hong Kong," said Tsang.He also encouraged Russian companies to issue RMB bonds in Hong Kong, and welcomed Russian banks to set up branches in Hong Kong and make use of the RMB clearing and settlement system.Tsang was accompanied by 30 Hong Kong businessmen who were interested in cooperation with Russia."I hope that your meeting here in Moscow, including with members of the business community, will be useful," said Medvedev.The Russian president also invited Tsang to discuss the further advancement of bilateral cooperation as well as some key international issues.

BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said here Monday China would continue to crack down on terrorists and criminals targeting civil aviation.Zhang made the remarks when addressing the opening ceremony of an international conference on air law.The conference will review draft amendments to international conventions on aviation security.Zhang said as a responsible country, China firmly supports international efforts to combat terrorism and will continue to meet its international obligations in the field of civil aviation.Zhang said he hoped delegates could discuss ways to improve international air criminal law.He also expressed hope for the criminalization of unlawful interference that threatens aviation security."We need to send a clear message to the international community and to terrorist groups - any unlawful interfering in civil aviation is intolerable," said Roberto Kobeh Gonzalez, president of the Council for the International Civil Aviation Organization, at the conference.According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), during the twelve-day conference, delegates from over 60 countries will examine international law concerning aviation security, including the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against the Safety of Civil Aviation and the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft.

MUSCAT, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- A top Chinese delegation will sign agreements on two-way investment and personnel training with Oman amid efforts to deepen the cooperation between China and the Gulf oil-rich Sultanate, Chinese ambassador to Oman Pan Weifang said Friday.Jia Qinglin, China's top political advisor, will pay a three- day good-will visit to Oman starting from Saturday. This is a visit of the highest level in 11 years in the history of bilateral relations, ambassador Pan told Xinhua ahead of the visit.The delegation will meet Omani Sultan Qabus bin Said al-Said, deputy prime minister and other ministers and sign the important agreements during the visit, he said."I am very pleased to see that the senior Chinese leader will meet with His Majesty Sultan Qabus as the friendly Omani people are celebrating the 40th National Day," Pan said. MUSCAT, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's top political adviser Jia Qinglin arrived here Saturday for an official goodwill visit intended to promote the development of relations between China and Oman.Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, delivered a written speech at the airport of the Omani capital.In the speech, Jia hailed the traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation between China and Oman, which was once connected by the "Silk Road", pledging to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples through his visit.Oman is the third leg of Jia's four-state visit. He has visited Syria and Poland and will visit Kazakhstan.
