ANKARA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- China and Turkey on Friday issued a joint declaration on the establishment and development of a strategic relationship of cooperation, further upgrading the level of bilateral relations.The two emerging developing countries agreed to maintain the momentum of high-level exchange of visits, deepen political mutual trust, expand bilateral friendly exchanges and formally launch a mechanism of joint working group of the two foreign ministries, the declaration said.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was in Turkey for an official visit Thursday through Saturday at the invitation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (R) meets with Turkish President Abdullah Gul in Istanbul, Turkey, Oct. 8, 2010.During his visit, Premier Wen met with President Abdullah Gul and held talks with Prime Minister Erdogan. In a frank, friendly and pragmatic atmosphere, leaders of the two countries had an in-depth exchange of views on how to further expand and deepen China-Turkey mutually beneficiary cooperation in all fields and on regional as well as international issues of common interest, reaching broad consensus, the declaration said.The two sides made an overall review of and highly appraised the development of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the fruitful achievements in the relations.It is the shared view of the two sides that as emerging developing countries, both China and Turkey are at an important stage of development, the declaration said."With the historical background of deep and complex changes in the international situation, the continuous expansion of China-Turkey friendly relations and cooperation, both in scale and content, will not only benefit the two peoples, but also contribute to regional and world peace, stability and development," it added.

BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya made solemn representations to Japanese ambassador to China Uichiro Niwa on Sunday evening to express strong indignation and protest against Japan's prolonged detention of a Chinese skipper."The incident created by the Japanese side has severely damaged China-Japan relations," said Wang, stressing how the situation develops completely depends on what choices the Japanese side will make.The Japanese authorities on Sunday afternoon extended the detention of the captain to Sept. 29.Two Japan Coast Guard patrol ships and the Chinese fishing boat collided in waters off the Diaoyu Islands on Sept. 7. The Japanese side illegally seized the Chinese trawler and fishermen, and continued to illegally hold the Chinese captain despite firm protests by the Chinese side.Wang warned China will take strong counter measures if the Japanese side fails to release the Chinese captain immediately and unconditionally."Japan shall bear all the consequences that arise," he noted.Sources with the Foreign Ministry said earlier Sunday China had already suspended bilateral exchanges at and above the provincial or ministerial levels, halted contact with Japan on the issues of increasing civil flights and expanding aviation rights between the two countries.A bilateral meeting on coal has also been postponed.In the mean time, the number of Chinese citizens traveling to Japan as tourists has already declined.

  

BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) - Chinese police freed 10,621 women and 5,896 children who had been abducted for human trafficking as of September 6,since the Ministry of Public Security launched a crackdown on trafficking the crime in April last year.In the campaign, police nationwide apprehended 2,398 human trafficking gangs and handled 13,500 such cases, said the ministry in a statement on Sunday.Further, the police put 15,673 suspects under criminal detention and handed out administrative penalties on 1,518 people, it said.In addition to the tough crackdown, the police have stepped up measures to return the children who have been trafficked to their biological parents, including building a database that collects the DNA of those children who may have fallen victims to human trafficking and their parents.The database had helped 813 children to find their biological parentsthrough DNA matching.

  

BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Property prices in 70 major cities rose 9.3 percent in August year on year but were unchanged on a month-on-month basis from July, China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Friday.The year-on-year growth rate was one percentage point lower than the year-on-year growth rate in July, a statement on the NBS website said Friday.The year-on-year growth rate was the slowest in the past eight months this year.On a year-on-year basis, China's home prices rose 7.8 percent in December 2009, 9.8 percent in January 2010, 10.7 percent in February, 11.7 percent in March, 12.8 in April, 12.4 percent in May, 11.4 percent in June and 10.3 percent in JulyNew home prices rose 11.7 percent year on year in August, down 1.2 percentage points from July. New home prices in August were unchanged from July, too.Prices of second-hand homes rose 6.2 percent year on year in August, down 0.5 percentage points from July. Prices of second-hand homes in August increased on a month-on-month basis, up 0.1 percent from July.The Chinese government took measures in April to cool soaring home prices, including curbing lending to developers, limiting loans for third-home purchases and requiring higher down-payments for second-home purchases.
