BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, on Tuesday opened its 13th Standing Committee session on economic and social planning for the next five years.

The Chinese president said that he has repeatedly called for strengthening the support to African countries, adding that China is stepping up the implementation of related measures, and will continue to do what it can to help Zambia and other African countries beat the virus and restore economic and social development.

The event was held at the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression near Lugou Bridge, also known as Marco Polo Bridge, in the western suburb of Beijing.

Hu, also chief of the State Council leading group on poverty alleviation and development, made the remarks while attending a launch ceremony of a pro-consumption campaign.

To promote ASEAN-China relations, Laos will make concerted efforts with relevant countries for the success of the LMC leaders' meeting and the series of leaders' meetings on East Asia cooperation, as well as the signing of the RCEP as soon as possible, the Lao prime minister said.
