SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Neighbors woke up to find disturbing graffiti in their Hillcrest neighborhood.For Lauren Matley, it was hard to hold back tears, as she scraped away the red paint on her car window. This was just one of many vehicles that were painted on along 6th Avenue in Hillcrest. Someone also painted on the side of houses and on a garage.Doctor Barry Kaplan was walking his dog when he noticed the graffiti and he called police. "Several of my grandparents died in the Holocaust. So, for me to see this, this reminds me of Nazi Germany. It’s very offensive," Kaplan said.Though Matley doesn’t know if this was a random act or meant to be antisemitic, she says it hits too close to home being a member of the Jewish community."You wake up and this is what you look forward to? The black community would look forward to? The Jewish community would look forward to? The Muslim community looks forward to?" Matley said.Police say after the reports are written this case will be handed to an investigator. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One person is dead after being struck by an Amtrak train near the Sorrento Valley train station Saturday afternoon, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said.Amtrak has called this a "trespasser incident." Pacific Surfliner trains 583 and 785 are severely delayed, Amtrak reported. The medical examiner is on the scene, and San Diego Police and sheriff's deputies are investigating the incident.No other details are available at this time. This is a developing story. 10News will update as information becomes available.   572

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than a dozen exotic dancers who claimed their constitutional rights were violated during raids at two local strip clubs have been awarded nearly .5 million by the City of San Diego.The 17 dancers from Exposé and Cheetah's Gentleman's Club have sought damages from what they claimed where humiliating searches and for being held against their will by San Diego Police officers during searches on July 23, 2013, and March 3, 2014.City Council leaders Tuesday approved two settlements for two lawsuits over the raids. One settlement awarded 0,000 to one dancer while the second settlement awarded .4 million to 16 dancers, attorney Dan Gilleon, who represents the 16 dancers, confirmed.RELATED: Victory for San Diego exotic dancers?in legal battle over police inspectionCheetah's dancers claim officers swarmed the building in 2014 with bulletproof vests and guns and ordered dancers to the dressing rooms. There, they reportedly checked that all 30 dancers had proper city permits and were in compliance to work at the strip club.Dancers also say officers forced them to line up, expose body parts, and have their tattoos photographed. Surveillance video showed officers lining up dancers to be photographed and taking their information."I felt like it was really, really, like, uncomfortable," dancer Brittany Murphy told 10News in 2014. "I don't understand why I have to get my picture taken. I asked them if it was of my face and they said yes. So, I got up against the locker and [the officer] is standing really far. Kevin Mayer told 10News in a 2014 statement. "In most cases, Vice Unit detectives do not require or request clubs to shut down. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New data from WalletHub shows how California ranks on a list of best and worst states for military retirees.Overall, California ranked high when it comes to quality of life and health care, but much lower when it comes to the economy and homelessness.WalletHub ranked states on a number of other factors, with one being best and 25 being average.In the quality of life category, California comes in at 10th on the list of 51 states and the District of Columbia.From there, the data starts looking less attractive. When it comes to the economic environment, California ranked low coming in at 48th.California also ranked 48th for veterans per capita, yet ranked 49th for the percentage of homeless veterans.The area where California ranked best was number of VA health facilities per number of veterans where the state took the 3rd spot.The data also found that red states are more friendly towards military retirees than blue states.
