A second report in as many days is predicting an “extremely active” hurricane season.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their annual August update for the Atlantic hurricane season Thursday. They are predicting 19 to 25 named storms, where 7 to 11 of them become hurricanes and 3 to 6 of those become major hurricanes with winds of 111mph or greater.Hurricane season ends November 30.There have already been nine named storms in 2020, the earliest that has happened since historical records began. Hurricane Isaias was also the fifth storm of the season to make landfall. It’s the fastest we’ve gotten to five land-falling storms since the old record set back in 1916.Historically, according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, only two named storms form on average by early August and the ninth storm typically does not form until October.“This is one of the most active seasonal forecasts that NOAA has produced in its 22-year history of hurricane outlooks,” said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “We encourage all Americans to do their part by getting prepared, remaining vigilant, and being ready to take action when necessary.”On Wednesday, Colorado State University’s Tropical Weather and Climate Research Center released their final predictions for the 2020 hurricane season. They believe there will be roughly 24 named storms, and 12 hurricanes.“The primary reason why we’re forecasting such an active season isn’t as much the storm activity that we’ve already had, but the large-scale conditions we’ve observed during July and what we expect to see during the peak of the season,” said Dr. Phil Klotzbach, from Colorado State University.NOAA says current oceanic and atmospheric conditions are making 2020 an active storm year, including warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures, reduced vertical wind shear, weaker tropical Atlantic trade winds and an enhanced African monsoon.Both groups say their predictions are for overall seasonal activity and do not predict landfall. A storm system causing severe weather Sunday along the Gulf Coast is forecast to move off the East Coast, turn into a nor'easter and threaten the Northeastern United States on Monday night into Tuesday.The storm's exact path remains a bit uncertain, but the system will bring precipitation and wind in what will be the third significant winter storm in the past 10 days.A winter storm watch is in effect for 8.5 million people in New England, including residents of Boston and Portland, Maine. The National Weather Service Boston estimated 6 to 8 inches of snow for parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.New York, Philadelphia and Washington are only under a hazardous weather outlook at this time. The next forecast update will come at 8 p.m. on Sunday.The American model forecasts heavy snowfall for areas of New England and upstate New York, whereas the European model shows less snowfall. Still, both models agree there will be more snow on the way for the Northeast.If the nor'easter tracks closer to the coast, then stronger winds and coastal flooding may become issues as well.Last weekend, a powerful nor'easter that morphed into a "bomb cyclone" slammed much of the Northeast with heavy snow and rain, hurricane-force wind gusts, and significant coastal flooding. The storm left six people dead from falling trees, and about 900,000 people lost electrical power.As residents were still digging out from that snow, a second storm hit the Northeast late last week. The storm dropped heavy, wet snow in areas west of Interstate 95, leaving feet of snow in some areas. One 88-year-old woman died Wednesday when a tree fell and struck her in Suffern, in southern New York, police said.This winter's snowfall totals so far sit around the annual average at this point for the major Northeast hubs of Boston, New York and Philadelphia, according to the National Weather Service. 1937

A Valrico, Florida mom is sharing her experience on social media after she said she was asked asked to wait outside the Plant City DMV office with her infant daughter.Liz Gatley, a stay-at-home mother of three girls, said she was asked by a representative at the Plant City Tag Office to take her one-year-old daughter outside or come back another day. In a picture on Facebook you can see at least four young children, one in a stroller, and the mothers waiting outside the office. Gatley said her daughter, as well as the other children were not being disruptive and said she's a firm believer of taking them outside if they were. In the post, Gatley wrote, "I was so mad but I was also embarrassed and confused," she said. She went on to say, "for you to embarrass me and be extremely rude, unapologetic and not understanding the fact many moms are stay at home moms with little to no help, is what bothers me."Gatley said she and the mothers stood outside with no bench or air conditioning as they waited two hours to be seen at the office. At the end of the post she said, "if you have children, go to another location!"Doug Belden with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's spoke with Tampa-based WFTS on Friday afternoon. He apologized to Gatley and the experience at the Plant City office noting it was not the friendly and efficient policy that is in place.Belden said he called Gatley directly and told her he would meet with her at her earliest convenience, even throughout the weekend to help get the facts of what happened. Belden said he is outraged that Gatley experienced this at his office, and that children are always welcome in the offices across Hillsborough County.He went on to say that he will be looking into this employee, and taking appropriate measures -- and even went as far to say he plans to check with the landlord to see if they can install benches outside the office. We asked Belden if Gatley should have gone back inside, and he said "absolutely" adding if he found out about this situation at the time, he would have taken care of this immediately. Gatley said Belden was sincere in his apologies and plans to take him up on his offer of meeting with her as soon as possible.  2349

A New York taxi kingpin and business partner of President Donald Trump's attorney Michael Cohen has agreed to cooperate with the government, The New York Times reported Tuesday.The Times said the agreement for Evegny "Gene" Freidman would allow him to avoid jail time and would have him work with prosecutors in both the state and federal investigations.Word of the Freidman agreement came just days after news broke that Jeffrey Yohai, the son-in-law of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort, had reached a plea agreement.Freidman, known as New York's "Taxi King," was indicted on state charges last year by then-New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who alleged Freidman and others failed to pay million in MTA surcharges between 2012 and 2015.Freidman's agreement, given his ties to Cohen as a business partner, may put still more pressure on the Trump associate and attorney, who faced federal raids in April before the Justice Department announced it had been conducting a months-long investigation into him.CNN previously reported the FBI searches included a request for documents related to Cohen's ownership of taxi medallions and sought informationabout taxi owners who had financial dealings with Cohen.Cohen's role as Trump's personal attorney has come under increasing scrutiny, due in large part to the payment he conceded facilitating to the adult film star Stormy Daniels. A San Diego bail bondsman is disputing a controversial Facebook live in which the narrator says his agents were turning in a suspected undocumented immigrant.The video, shot Monday by Ryan McAdams, shows Watkins employees turning a Latino man into central jail. McAdams, wearing a Watkins hat, narrates the video, saying the man was at risk of skipping trial and costing Watkins ,000. He added commentary that drew criticism from immigration advocates. "He's in here hiding under sanctuary status right now," McAdams says in the nine-minute video. "Let ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) deal with him."Jerald Watkins, who co-owns Watkins Bail Bonds, said he watched that video in shock. He said immigration status doesn't matter. "As long as you appear at your court dates, that's all we're asking," he said. Watkins said his workers took the man in after he changed his address and phone number, plus a warning from his co-signors that he may skip trial. "The family called and said look, this guy's acting shaky, we don't want to be on the hook for ,000," he said. Watkins said McAdams isn't his employee. He simply knew the agent, who let him ride along while he broadcast it on Facebook."Yeah, I'm not happy about that," Watkins said.
