SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County is taking another jab at tackling the housing crisis. In a press conference Wednesday, Supervisor Dianne Jacob revealed a set of pre-approved plans to build granny flats throughout the county. Homeowners can choose between plans for a 600 or 1,200 square foot designs. The program can help homeowners save up to ,000 in design and permit fees. Tom Tanner recently built a granny flat on his home in Lakeside. "I was looking for that additional income to offset the cost of everything," said Tanner. "If it’s doable, yea, do it it all comes down to the numbers, how much they can afford what they’re going to get back."The county is currently working on developing four other designs for homeowners to choose from. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Residents at the Pacific Heights Condominiums are making sure to lock their balcony doors after a bizarre theft.The theft happened Tuesday just after midnight, according to neighbors.A resident of the complex reported seeing two men climbing down his neighbors balcony with a bike in hand.  Milad Hassibi says he yelled at the two men when he saw them coming down. “The second that happened the guy fell off the ladder and his friend took the bike from him, took off with the bike one direction, and the other guy ran off the opposite way.” Hassibi said.He described the men as looking ragged and possibly homeless.  He put out a warning on social media. He said there were fliers put around the complex. 746

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diegans living in recreational vehicles will soon have an opportunity to find refuge in the city's newest safe parking lot, an expansion of the City's Safe Parking ProgramThe City-funded lot will be in Mission Valley, operated by Jewish Family Service.Right now, there are four safe parking lots, but only one allows RVs."No one told me life was going to be easy, ok? I understand that I get that concept, but can we get a break once in a while? Just a little break, that's how I looked at this. This was my break," said Jeff Tracy.Tracy is referring to the safe parking lot on Imperial Avenue which accommodates RVs; it's operated by Dreams for Change."Because you can't function and take care of your basic needs if you're worried about your basic needs."Tracy's life forever changed seven years ago when a drunk driver crashed into the vehicle he was in with his wife and daughter. Tracy was the only one who survived, and he lost one of his legs. He's been struggling ever since. "It's a very learning process being homeless, and I don't like it, and I know most people don't, it's a hard life."Some RV owners like Tracy worry they'll have to move their RV during the day if they're moved to the new parking lot. He not only has to get his wheelchair in and out of the RV but says the cost of gas would be astronomical. "Expensive, hard, it's stressful, because now I've got to move it and where am I going to move it to? I've got to pull over here to some resident again, and they're going to get upset, I don't want to upset people," said Tracy.Tracy says the Safe Parking Program has given him a place to feel safe while he tries to plan for a better future. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for a gunman after one person was shot and injured in the Logan Heights area on Sunday.Police said a 24-year-old man was sitting on his porch at 2248 Ocean View Blvd. when a vehicle drove up. A suspect exited the passenger side of the vehicle and fire one shot, hitting the victim in the buttocks.The suspect got back in the vehicle and fled the scene.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.SDPD officers are investigating the shooting. 532

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police asked for the public’s help Friday to find a missing woman with Alzheimer’s disease.Evelyne Delorme, 70, was last seen leaving her University City home at noon, officers said.She may be driving a dark gray 2010 Toyota Camry with left rear bumper damage, according to police.
