SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old in the Midway District last month.San Diego Police say 19-year-old Armando Alvarado, of San Diego, was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with the murder of Eduardo Salguero. Police said Salguero had set up a meeting over Snapchat to purchase an item on Nov. 25 when the meet up turned into an armed robbery.When Salguero arrived, the two sellers entered his vehicle. One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and multiple gunshots were fired inside the vehicle. The suspects then fled.Officers arrived to find Salguero behind the wheel of a grey Acura that had collided with a retaining wall behind businesses in the 3600 block of Midway Drive. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Spirit Airlines flight leaving San Diego's airport was stopped on the runway Thursday when the plane had a hydraulic fluid leak at Lindbergh Field.The incident happened just after 9 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire Department. No smoke made its way into the cabin and no fire was reported. Crews towed the aircraft back to its terminal.No injuries were reported. Spirit Airlines spokesman Stephen Schuler issued a statement just after noon which reads, "Spirit Airlines flight 359 from San Diego to Las Vegas returned to the gate following a reported mechanical issue. The captain of another aircraft in line for takeoff reported smoke from the rear landing gear and fire officials responded accordingly. The aircraft was towed to the gate, where our mechanics and FAA inspectors discovered it was nothing more than condensation. The plane is scheduled to take off shortly.  We apologize for any inconvenience to our guests."  995

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A surveillance photo released by the FBI and San Diego Police Tuesday may help them find the man who robbed a Clairemont bank.The white man, in his late 20s or early 30s, demanded cash from a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank inside the Vons grocery store at 4725 Clairemont Drive in Clairemont Town Centere on December 30.Police said the man used a note and no weapon was seen or used.The teller gave the man cash and he walked away.Investigators describe the man as about 5’11” with an average build. He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt, white shirt, red shorts, black sneakers and a baseball cap at the time of the robbery.Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego Police. 713

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A young woman was hit by an egg while walking to her car in Carmel Valley and could lose sight in her left eye permanently due to the prank, according to what her doctor told her.Meghan Campbell, 25, was visiting friends on Sunday the 19th, at their home near Torrey Pines High School. Around 9:45 p.m. she was walking ahead of her friends to her car when a dark SUV drove by and someone inside hurled an egg at her."It was freaking terrifying," she said Wednesday, still shaken by the incident. "Soon as it hit me I kneeled down to figure out what was going on." Her thoughts were racing, "I can't see, there's something gooey on my face right now."It can sound like a funny prank, and Campbell chooses to find the humor in it now, but what doctors told her at the hospital was life-altering.She said doctors told her that her left cornea was scratched and orbital bones were fractured."I think the most scary thing for me was my vision went out... and I couldn't start seeing light or anything until the next day," Campbell said.She saw an Ophthalmologist Tuesday and she said he told her it will take six weeks to find out if her vision will come back. He said there are no options for surgery or medication because of the level of trauma to her eye. Her left pupil has remained dilated more than a week after the incident.She said she's still having trouble with light sensitivity, depth perception, and overall vision. "Someone with 20/20 vision can stand 200 feet away from something and see it clear, I have to stand 20 feet away to see the same thing," she said.She was visiting her friends from Orange County when the incident happened. Wednesday she was at the airport waiting for a flight back to Kentucky where she's studying to become an ER doctor. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - After thousands of Art Institute of California - San Diego students were let down by the institute they trusted, some faculty members are left wondering if they'll receive their final paychecks.Student worker Stefon Harris was waiting for a check on Friday that never came. “Just been checking and checking and checking and it never showed up, it never showed up. I only have in my account," said Harris. The for-profit college abruptly shut down on March 8. The school's operator, the for-profit Argosy University, shut down the campus after court documents alleged it misused millions of dollars in federal funds.“it was shell-shocking, you don’t plan for stuff like that," said Harris. On Monday Harris received a letter from the court-appointed receiver for Dream Center Education Holdings (DCEH), the parent company of the Art Institute. The letter says that given the financial circumstances funds have not been secured and pay is delayed. The letter goes on to say they are doing everything they can to expedite payment for funds owed. 1073
