(KGTV) — Santee voters this November will weigh in on two measures that deal with limits on serving as a City Council member or as Mayor.Measure Q and R each intend to address term limits on City Council and Mayoral positions in the city of Santee, however, they each take a different approach to limit how long someone can serve.The text of Measure Q reads as follows:City of Santee - Measure Q: "Shall the measure amending the Santee Municipal Code to require that no person shall serve as an 'Elected Official,' defined to include the offices of Mayor and Member of the City Council, for more than twelve years, or three terms, whichever is less, with any portion of term, whether by election or appointment, counting as a full term, be adopted?"Measure Q would not allow anyone to serve as either Mayor or a City Council member, or any combination of those positions, for more than 12 years, or three four-year terms, with any portion of a term counting as a full term.The competing measure, Measure R, reads as follows:City of Santee - Measure R: "Shall an ordinance amending the Santee Municipal Code to establish a three-term lifetime limit on City Council service and a separate two-term lifetime limit on Mayoral service, be adopted?"In other words, no one can serve as Mayor for more than two, four-year terms and, separately and in addition, as a City Council member for three, four-year terms, regardless of the district a person represented. That's still allowed.The San Francisco Chronicle reports the Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 Tuesday to approve the ordinance making San Francisco the largest city in the country to ban tobacco smoking inside apartments.The original proposal sought to ban residents from smoking marijuana in their apartments. But supervisors voted to exclude marijuana after cannabis activists said the law would take away their only legal place to smoke.It's illegal under state law to smoke cannabis in public places. 669

SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) - James Schwab, a spokesman for the San Francisco Division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has resigned, citing what he says are falsehoods being spread by members of the Trump administration including Attorney General Jeff Sessions."I just couldn't bear the burden -- continuing on as a representative of the agency and charged with upholding integrity, knowing that information was false," he told CNN on Monday.Schwab cited Acting Director Tom Homan and Attorney General Jeff Sessions as being the purveyors of misleading and inaccurate information, following Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's controversial decision to warn the community of an upcoming ICE raid.ICE released a press release on February 27 about the operations in Northern California in which Homan stated that "864 criminal aliens and public safety threats remain at large in the community, and I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision."Sessions also repeated a similar estimate in his remarks while visiting Sacramento last week."Those are 800 wanted criminals that are now at large in that community -- 800 wanted criminals that ICE will now have to pursue with more difficulty in more dangerous situations, all because of one mayor's irresponsible action," Sessions had said.Schwab said he took issue with their characterization."Director Homan and the Attorney General said there were 800 people at large and free to roam because of the actions of the Oakland Mayor," he told CNN. "Personally I think her actions were misguided and not responsible. I think she could have had other options. But to blame her for 800 dangerous people out there is just false.""It's a false statement because we never pick up 100% of our targets. And to say they're a type of dangerous criminal is also misleading."Schwab said he brought up his concerns to ICE leadership and was told to "deflect to previous statements. (KGTV) — Dos Desperados brewing in San Marcos was headed for a banner year until the coronavirus outbreak hit."We had all of our vats full and of course we had to shut down," said owner Steve Munson. "It's not a killer yet, We're trying to survive until the end of the year."Sales plummeted in the tasting room and distribution. Munson had to cut his staff of eight to two, even letting his own daughter go. It got even more complicated in early July, when the governor eliminated indoor service for bars and restaurants.But when Munson approached the City of San Marcos to get an outdoor permit, he says it went lightning-quick, something Munson never expected.San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones says it happened fast because the city already had the framework in place to streamline outdoor permits, with no fees. The city actually approved it in late May. Jones credits Innovate 78, a collaborative effort between the five cities that line the 78: San Marcos, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Escondido, and Vista. They've been working together on the economy for years."If you are not looking forward to what could happen next, you're not really planning," Jones said. "So we try to plan for the unknown, and I really believe that has come from COVID."Innovate 78 now plans to send a letter to Gov. (KGTV) - A Santee family believes their loved one was among the four people killed by mysterious blue pills last week. “That’s the biggest thing is, I’m pissed somebody is out there doing this,” said Dan Steele, the stepfather of Casey Force. Force, 39, said goodbye to his mother as she left for work Wednesday night. The next morning, Force’s three sons woke up and found him dead in his bed. Steele said the family hasn’t received an official cause of death, but deputies told him blue pills were found in the bedroom. RELATED: Mysterious pills sold on the street linked to several deaths in San Diego CountyInvestigators say the mysterious pills, linked to four recent deaths in San Diego County, are counterfeit oxycodone, likely laced with fentanyl. Force was nine months sober from his alcohol addiction and appeared to be succeeding as a painter.
