(KGTV) - Police are trying to determine if the gun in the officer-involved shooting was registered to the shooter.Around 1:30 Wednesday, police were called to a mobile home park in San Ysidro after getting reports of a man carrying a large gun. Neighbors say luckily no one was killed. One neighbor reported getting under her table during the gunfire. One of them said they didn’t want to talk about their dad, but that their mom was doing okay and they are not mad at police for shooting their father. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A local portable toilet rental company is charged with tampering with equipment on its trucks to skirt emissions regulations. Employees also allegedly faked some of the smog test results.Team 10 Investigative Reporter Jennifer Kastner went to San Marcos’ Diamond Environmental Services on Friday afternoon, but was asked to leave. 10News was looking for answers to the alarming accusations that the company and some of its employees were committing crimes against the environment. Part of a video on the company’s website states, “Diamond's dedication to doing the right thing goes above and beyond.” Yet prosecutors say Diamond was preparing false smog test results to get passing results. Additionally, executives were allegedly tampering with emission control devices on its diesel truck fleet, re-programming the emission monitoring devices to avoid extra costs that come with burning off dirty, soot-filled diesel filters. Ed Rodriguez is the owner of Auto Park Smog in Escondido. He says, “If you’ve ever seen a vehicle going down the road, like a truck, and it has black smoke coming out of it, that’s all soot and that's not good.” Rodriguez says he's worked on Diamond's smaller trucks but not the ones that are part of this new six count federal indictment. The U.S. Attorney’s Office claims that Diamond took the devices out of trucks and shipped them out of California to be re-programmed. Scooter company Lime is recalling one of its models from every city after realizing it could break apart while in use. The company says the model occasionally breaks "when subject to repeated abuse."The scooters were manufactured by a Chinese company called Okai, according to a Washington Post interview with Lime representatives. The Washington Post said it could not get in touch with Okai for comment.Lime plans to decommission any Okai scooters in its fleets.Those who experience the breaking scooter are typically leaving them where they break, and it has been difficult for the company to tally how many have broken, the Washington Post reports.This recall follows one issued a couple months ago stating some Lime scooters could catch fire. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A new apartment complex in San Ysidro promises to offer more than 100 affordable apartments to residents. The building, called Paseo La Paz, was made possible in part due to a .3 million grant from the City of San Diego and will offer 137 affordable units. The complex targets families with incomes from 50 to 60 percent of San Diego’s median income – approximately ,000 per year for a family of four. Rents will range from 0 per month for a one-bedroom apartment to ,200 for a three-bedroom unit. Rents will remain affordable for the next 55 years as part of the agreement that secured the grant.
