MACAO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The celebration gathering marking the10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and the inauguration of the third-term government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) were held here Sunday. President Hu Jintao, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (CPC) of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attended the ceremony, where Macao SAR Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and principal officials of the SAR government were sworn in. She urged the university to help students find their jobs and help students from poor families. During the visit to the Beijing Language and Culture University, Liu expressed the hope that students from foreign countries could deeply understand and feel China and promote friendship between China and people all over the world. BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States would work together for positive results at the Copenhagen summit slated for December this year, Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on Tuesday. "President Obama and I agreed to expand the China-U.S. cooperation in the fields of climate change, energy and environment," Hu told the press after talks with visiting U.S. President Barack Obama. China and the United States would cooperate with all sides concerned, on the basis of the "common but differentiated responsibilities" principle and their respective capabilities, to help produce positive results at the Copenhagen summit on climate change, said Hu. China and the United States have signed documents of cooperation including a memorandum of understanding on enhancing cooperation on climate change, energy and the environment, and have officially launched an initiative on a joint research center on clean energy, he added.
BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States highly value the fruitful scientific and technological results achieved in the past three decades, and agreed to start dialogue on aviation and railway cooperation, said a joint statement issued after talks between Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting U.S. President Barack Obama here on Tuesday. "The two sides applauded the rich achievements in scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between the two countries over the past 30 years since the signing of the China-U.S. Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology," said the statement. Both sides agreed to further upgrade the level of exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation through the China-U.S. Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation. The two countries "look forward to expanding discussions on space science cooperation and starting a dialogue on human space flight and space exploration, based on the principles of transparency, reciprocity and mutual benefit," said the statement. The two sides will exchange visits of the NASA Administrator and the appropriate Chinese counterpart in 2010, it said. The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on civil aviation, and to expand the Memorandum of Agreement for Technical Cooperation in the field of Civil Aviation between the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States. Besides the aviation field, Chinese and U.S. officials also hope the Chinese and U.S. public and private bodies to jointly build high speed railways, said the statement.
