SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The final panel of a 14-mile stretch of the Primary Border Wall project was installed Friday, marking a turning point for U.S. Border Patrol, according to Border Patrol officials.Now there is more updated fencing in place compared to aging infrastructure. The stretch of new fencing replaced stamped steel, that's easy to climb, originally installed in the 1990's.The 18-30-foot steel bollard stretches a quarter of a mile from the ocean, to Otay Mountain. With that, it means less agents have to field a certain area," Francisco said. He said that means an area with seven agents could go down to two or three.As for who paid for the wall, each Border Patrol agent said the Trump administration. "So this would be Trump's wall, it was financed in fiscal year 2017, so it's starting under his administration and will wrap up under his administration," Francisco said.Border patrol is working on two other projects, one in Tecate that's a four mile primary fence and another that's stretches from the ocean to Otay Mountain as a secondary wall. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The California Center for the Arts, Escondido will host drive-in live concerts and a movie series this month.The concerts and movie screenings will be held at the former Nordstrom parking lot at Westfield North County at 8 p.m. Spaces for more than 250 vehicles will be made available and spaced apart to keep listeners distanced.The scheduled shows start on Aug. 14 with a showing of the classic musical Grease and continue on Aug. 15 and 16 with a performance by Jersey Boys stars Christian Hoff and Travis Cloer. Hoff, a Tony Award-winning actor, is best known for his portrayal of the role Tommy Devito from the Four Season’s and Cloer is the longest-running actor to play the role Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys.Tickets to the general public will go on sale on Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. here or by calling 800-988-4253. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The hospital patient who brutally beat a San Diego nurse faced a judge on Friday for his sentencing. 10News was in the courtroom, where the nurse described how she fought for her life while 41 year-old Geoffrey Brizzolara attacked her.“I stood in his doorway and I said, ‘How may I help you, sir?’ His response was to lift a 25-pound chair over his head and throw it at me,” nursing supervisor Mary Prehoden told the courtroom. “Mr. Brizzolara beat me with his fists. He kicked me and then scratched me and he pulled a handful of hair straight out of my head,” she went on to say.The attack happened last summer at Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest. He was a patient at the hospital and apparently has a history of mental health issues. He did not know Nurse Preholden.“His actions were deliberate and vicious. I was defenseless,” she told the courtroom.She was joined by other nurses who say that patient violence against nurses is a constant concern across the country. Nurse Trish Mcauliffe told us, “The resources have to be increased- mental health resources.” Mcauliffe described how she was once attacked by a different patient at another hospital. “I ended up with a split lip [and] loose teeth and then he stood in the doorway, laughing.”Friday, Brizzolara was sentenced to one year behind bars, with an option for early-release to a mental health treatment facility.“Every single one of us who chooses to do this for a living is under threat every day in every hospital in this country,” added Prehoden. 1542

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The battle over the Crossroads of the West Gun Show continued Tuesday in Del Mar.The Board that oversees the fairgrounds is reviewing the show that has been hosted at the fairgrounds for the last 28 years.A pro-gun, second-amendment political action committee collected more than 3,100 letters in support of continuing the show in Del Mar.The letters were given to the board for review and consideration. Michael Schwartz, Executive Director of the San Diego County Gun Owners is pushing is pushing for the board to renew the shows contract with no restrictions or limitations."It took us less than a week to collect all these signatures, we could have gotten more. Some are written by entire families who come to the show every year. It is a family event with almost a 30 year history with Del Mar," said Schwartz. Protesters also made an appearance at the board meeting dressed in orange and asking the board to cancel the shows current contract.The Del Mar, Solanna Beach and Encinitas city councils have approved resolutions calling for a ban on the gun shows at the fairgrounds.Guns can be purchased at the show, but California law requires extensive background checks and a waiting period.The board will make a decision to cancel or continue the gun show at it's board meeting in September. 1329

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The all-clear was given after a suspicious device forced the evacuation of a building at San Diego City College Monday. The device was reported Monday afternoon in or near Building A, according to the school. The building serves as administrative offices. The college says no classes were affected by the evacuation. The building, as well as a cafeteria will remain closed for the remainder of the day. 431
